Blues Beat Rangers

ST. LOUIS 3 – N.Y. Rangers 2 (OT)… Kasperi Kapanen’s goal at 1:16 of overtime gave the Blues a hard-fought win over the Rangers. Alexey Toropchenko and Tyler Pitlick scored in regulation for St. Louis.

 

BOSTON 2 – Toronto 1… David Pastrnak netted his 57th goal of the season at 2:30 of overtime to lift the Bruins over the Maple Leafs. Charlie Coyle scored a tying goal midway through the third period.

Buffalo 7 – DETROIT 6 (SO)… Jack Quinn and Alex Tuch scored in the shootout to send the Sabres past the Red Wings in a back-and-forth contest. Dylan Cozens scored twice and had an assist in regulation. Owen Power assisted on three goals.

FLORIDA 7 – Ottawa 2… Goalie Alex Lyon piled up a franchise-record 56 saves and got plenty of support offensively in the Panthers’ thrashing of the Senators. Alexander Barkov scored two goals and assisted on another. Brandon Montour had a goal and three assists.

MONTREAL 6 – Washington 2… Joel Armia recorded his second career hat trick in leading the Canadiens in their romp over the Capitals. Mike Matheson set up three goals. Nick Suzuki had a goal and an assist.

NEW JERSEY 8 – Columbus 1… Jack Hughes found the net twice and assisted on both of Timo Meier’s goals to highlight the Devils’ dismantling of the Blue Jackets. John Marino had three assists.

PITTSBURGH 4 – Minnesota 1… The Penguins kept their playoff hopes alive by skating past the Wild. Kris Letang and Rickard Rakell each had a goal and an assist. Goalie Tristan Jarry stopped 27 shots.

N.Y. ISLANDERS 6 – Tampa Bay 1… The Islanders buried the Lightning with a four-goal second period. Six different players found the net. Brock Nelson had a goal and two assists. Ryan Pulock Bo Horvat each added a goal and an assist.

NASHVILLE 3 – Carolina 0… Predators goalie Juuse Saros stopped all 33 shots in shutting out the Hurricanes. Mark Jankowski scored a shorthanded goal and added an assist in the first period.

DALLAS 4 – Philadelphia 1… The Stars got a pair of goals from Jason Robertson in skating past the Flyers. Joe Pavelski had a goal and two assists.

VANCOUVER 3 – Chicago 0… Goalie Thatcher Demko made 33 saves in his first shutout of the season and the Canucks breezed past the Blackhawks. Andrei Kuzmenko scored the only goal Vancouver needed in the first period. Vitali Kravtsov followed with a power-play goal in the second and J.T. Miller added an empty-netter.

VEGAS 5 – Los Angeles 2… The Golden Knights scored four unanswered goals in the first period and never looked back in their win over the Kings. Chandler Stephenson scored a goal and assisted on two others. Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist.

Colorado 6 – SAN JOSE 2… Mikko Rantanen found the net twice during a four-goal second period to finish off a hat trick, Ben Meyers netted two goals and the Avalanche handled the Sharks. Nathan Mackinnon had a goal and three assists.

SEATTLE 4 – Arizona 2… Jordan Eberle scored a tie-breaking goal early in the second period and had two assists in leading the Kraken past the Coyotes. Eberle and Jordan McCann finished with a goal and two assists. Matty Beniers added a goal and an assist.
