MLB Scores Monday 9-19

NATIONAL LEAGUE
MIAMI 10 – Chi. Cubs 3… The Marlins overcame an early two-run deficit to blow away the Cubs. Jon Berti hit a solo homer and Bryan De La Cruz unloaded a grand slam during a five-run bottom of the third inning. Charles Leblanc had a couple of hits, including a two-run homer.

ATLANTA 5 – Washington 2… Kyle Wright (19-5) gave up two runs on eight hits over six innings en route to his major league-leading 19th victory as the Braves topped the Nationals. Austin Riley opened the scoring with a first-inning solo homer. Eddie Rosario also went deep.

N.Y. Mets 7 – MILWAUKEE 2… The Mets clinched their first playoff berth in six years by downing the Brewers. The victory was their fifth in a row and kept them a game ahead of Atlanta atop the NL East. Max Scherzer (10-4) pitched six perfect innings in his return from the disabled list and earned his 200th career win. Pete Alonso cracked a three-run homer for New York.

San Francisco 10 – COLORADO 7 (10 innings)… The Giants came from two runs down after eight innings to outlast the Rockies. Thairo Estrada blasted a tie-breaking three-run homer in the top of the 10th inning. David Villar tied the game with an RBI double in the ninth. Wilmer Flores went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs.

L.A. DODGERS 5 – Arizona 1… The NL West-champion Dodgers handled the Diamondbacks to clinch a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the NLDS. Clayton Kershaw (9-3) surrendered a run on six hits and struck out 10 over six innings. Chris Taylor belted a three-run homer. Joey Gallo had a couple of hits and knocked in L.A.’s two other runs.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
CLEVELAND 11 – Minnesota 4…  Josh Naylor got things going with a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and Amed Rosario added a three-run shot in the sixth as the Guardians pounded the Twins. Luke Maile also went deep for Cleveland.

Seattle 9 – L.A. ANGELS 1… Carlos Santana hit a pair of homers, including a grand slam, and drove in five runs in leading the Mariners past the Angels. Ty France added a three-run shot. Logan Gilbert (13-6) held the Angels to a run on four hits and struck out 11 over six innings.

Houston 4 – TAMPA BAY 0… The Astros clinched the AL West title for the fifth time in six years, along with a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the ALDS, with their blanking of the Rays. Luis Garcia (13-8) pitched two-hit ball over five innings and two Astros relievers did the rest.  Alex Bregman added a two-run double to cap a three-run sixth.

Detroit 11 – BALTIMORE 0… Tigers starter Tyler Anderson (4-10) held the Orioles hitless over seven innings and two relievers shut the door. Riley Greene and Ryan Kreidler knocked in three runs apiece. Spencer Torkelson went 3-for-4 and scored three runs.
