NATIONAL LEAGUE
Pittsburgh 6 – CINCINNATI 1… Johan Oviedo (3-2) pitched one-hit ball over five scoreless innings and the Pirates breezed past the Reds in the doubleheader opener. Cal Mitchell homered with a runner aboard. Bryan Reynolds singled home a run and hit a solo homer. Ke’Bryan Hayes also went deep.

Pittsburgh 1 – CINCINNATI 0… Kevin Newman singled home Rodolfo Castro with the game’s only run in the top of the seventh inning as the Pirates clipped the Reds to complete a sweep of the twinbill. Pittsburgh starter Luis Ortiz pitched one-hit ball over 5-2/3 innings but the win went to reliever Chase De Jong (5-2).

Philadelphia 2 – MIAMI 1… Nick Maton’s go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning provided all the offense the Phillies needed in their win over the Marlins. Bailey Falter (5-3) allowed just a run on four hits over six innings in outdueling counterpart Sandy Alcantara (12-8).

Chi. Cubs 4 – N.Y. METS 1… Adrian Sampson (2-0) pitched two-hit ball over six scoreless innings and the Cubs breezed past the Mets. Ian Happ and David Bote hit solo homers for Chicago.

Milwaukee 8 – ST. LOUIS 4… Andrew McCutchen doubled home a run in the top of the first inning and hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the fifth to lead the Brewers past the Cardinals. Wily Adames drove in two runs with a double and a single.

L.A. Dodgers 4 – ARIZONA 0… Clayton Kershaw (8-3) pitched two-hit ball over seven innings and the Dodgers rolled past the Diamondbacks. Joey Gallo hit a two-run homer. Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy added solo shots.

Atlanta 5 – SAN FRANCISCO 1… The Braves fought their way past the Giants after spotting them an early lead. Dansby Swanson connected for a tie-breaking two-run homer in the top of the third inning and singled home a run in the ninth. Kyle Wright (18-5) gave up a run on three hits over 5-1/3 innings.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Tampa Bay 4 – TORONTO 2… Jeffrey Springs (8-4) allowed just three hits over six scoreless innings and the Rays eased past the Blue Jays in the opener of a doubleheader. Randy Arozarena knocked in two runs with a pair of infield grounders. Manuel Margot had a couple of hits, including an RBI single. Yandy Diaz went 3-for-4 and scored twice.

TORONTO 7 – Tampa Bay 2… Pinch-hitter Whit Merrifield came through with a go-ahead two-run double to spark a five-run bottom of the seventh inning that carried the Blue Jays past the Rays for a split of the twinbill. George Spring hit a two-run homer.

CLEVELAND 3 – L.A. Angels 1… Oscar Gonzalez smacked a tie-breaking two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to send the Guardians past the Angels. Four Cleveland pitchers combined on a four-hitter.

Houston 6 – DETROIT 3… Alex Bregman singled home a tie-breaking run and Kyle Tucker hit a two-run homer in the top of the third inning as the Astros doubled up on the Tigers. Yuli Gurriel also homered with a runner aboard. Yordan Alvarez cracked a solo shot. Hunter Brown (2-0) gave up two runs on five hits over six innings.

MINNESOTA 6 – Kansas City 3… Joe Ryan (11-8) held the Royals hitless over seven shutout innings and the Twins cruised to the win. Carlos Correa doubled home a run and hit a two-run homer. Jose Miranda and Gio Urshela also went deep.

N.Y. Yankees 7 – BOSTON 6 (10 innings)… Gleyber Torres gapped a bases-clearing double in the top of the 10th inning and the Yankees hung on to outlast the Red Sox. Aaron Judge hit a pair of solo homers and now has 57 on the season. Marwin Gonzalez homered with a runner aboard.

TEXAS 8 – Oakland 7… Mark Mathias hit a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning and added a walkoff solo shot in the ninth to power the Rangers past the Athletics. Mathias also doubled home a run. Adolis Garcia lined an RBI double and homered with a runner aboard.

INTERLEAGUE
Baltimore 4 – WASHINGTON 3… Ryan Mountcastle hit a game-tying leadoff homer and Austin Hays doubled home the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth inning as the Orioles eased past the Nationals. Gunnar Henderson opened the scoring with a run-scoring single in the first.

CHI. WHITE SOX 4 – Colorado 2… Eloy Jimenez blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and the White Sox coasted past the Rockies. Jose Abreu homered to lead off the eighth. Michael Kopech (5-9) surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings.

San Diego 2 – SEATTLE 0… Yu Darvish (14-7) allowed just two hits over eight innings and the Padres grinded out a win over the Mariners. Wil Meyers doubled home a run for San Diego and Juan Soto brought home an insurance run with an infield grounder.
