NATIONAL LEAGUE
N.Y. Mets 5 – PITTSBURGH 1… Chris Bassitt (13-7) held the Pirates to a run on five hits and struck out 10 over seven innings as the Mets took the opener of a doubleheader. Tyler Naquin belted a three-run homer and Eduardo Escobar added a solo shot during a four-run top of the fourth inning.
N.Y. Mets 10 – PITTSBURGH 0… Francisco Lindor had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and three RBIs as the Mets walloped the Pirates to complete a sweep of the twinbill. Eduardo Escobar went 4-for-5 with an RBI single. Jeff McNeil added three hits and knocked in two runs. Jacob deGrom (5-1) pitched three-hit ball over seven innings and got help from two relievers in the shutout.
COLORADO 8 – Milwaukee 4… Michael Toglia doubled home a run and blasted a three-run homer as the Rockies doubled up on the Brewers. Alan Trejo connected for a two-run shot. Kyle Freeland (8-9) allowed just a run on two hits over six innings.
L.A. DODGERS 7 – San Francisco 3… Trea Turner doubled home a tie-breaking run and Max Muncy blasted a three-run homer during a four-run bottom of the eighth inning that carried the Dodgers past the Giants. L.A. also got a three-run homer from Justin Turner.
PHILADELPHIA 4 – Miami 3… Edmundo Sosa hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the third inning, Jean Segura smacked a solo shot in the fourth and the Phillies held off the Marlins. Bailey Falter (4-3) allowed two runs on seven hits over 5-1/3 innings.
Cincinnati 7 – CHI. CUBS 1… The Reds clobbered the Cubs despite being outhit 12-10. Aristides Aquino smacked a pair of solo homers and singled home a run. Jake Fraley homered with the bases empty in the fourth to give Cincinnati the lead for good. Mike Minor (4-10) gave up a run on 10 hits over 5-2/3 innings.
ST. LOUIS 6 – Washington 5… The Cardinals came alive to score five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to stun the Nationals. Tommy Edman delivered a walkoff two-run double. Nolan Arenado’s RBI ground-rule double sparked the uprising. Paul Goldschmidt opened the scoring with a fourth-inning solo homer.
SAN DIEGO 6 – Arizona 3… Wil Meyers drilled a go-ahead solo homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Padres put away the Diamondbacks. Jurickson Profar hit a two-run blast and Jake Cronenworth also went deep for San Diego. Yu Darvish (13-7) allowed three runs on five hits over six innings.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
N.Y. YANKEES 5 – Minnesota 4 (12 innings)… Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Oswaldo Cabrera came through with run-scoring singles in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift the Yankees over the Twins in the opener of a doubleheader. Aaron Judge connected for his 55th homer with the bases empty. Gleyber Torres homered with a runner aboard.
N.Y. YANKEES 7 – Minnesota 1… Gerrit Cole (11-7) gave up just a run on five hits and piled up 14 strikeouts over 6-2/3 innings as the Yankees rolled past the Twins to sweep the twinbill. Isiah Kiner-Falefa unloaded a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning and Aaron Hicks lined a bases-clearing double in the eighth.
Detroit 5 – L.A. ANGELS 4… Kerry Carpenter and Ryan Kriedler hit back-to-back solo homers in the top of the ninth inning to send the Tigers past the Angels. Eric Haas and Spencer Torkelson also hit bases-empty homers for Detroit.
Chi. White Sox 9 – SEATTLE 6… The White Sox came from four runs down to slug their way past the Mariners. Eloy Jiménez put Chicago on the board with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning and doubled home the tying run in the sixth. Jose Abreu and Gavin Sheets drove in two runs apiece.
TAMPA BAY 1 – Boston 0… Five pitchers combined on a six-hitter and the Rays clipped the Red Sox. Taylor Wall’s infield single scored Francisco Mejia with the game’s only run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Toronto 4 – BALTIMORE 1… Alek Manoah (14-7) limited the Orioles to a run on three hits over eight innings and the Blue Jays breezed to the win. Alejandro Kirk went 3-for-4 with an RBI single.
KANSAS CITY 2 – Cleveland 1… The Royals scored both runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to upend the Guardians. MJ Melendez singled home the tying run and Salvador Perez lifted a walkoff sacrifice fly.
HOUSTON 4 – Texas 3 (10 innings)… The Astros overcame a three-run deficit to top the Rangers. Jose Altuve raced home with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning on a wild pitch. Kyle Tucker smacked a game-tying two-run homer in the sixth.
INTERLEAGUE
Atlanta 7 – OAKLAND 3… The Braves rolled past the Athletics after spotting them an early two-run lead. Dansby Swanson hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the top of the sixth inning after Vaughn Grissom’s two-run blast tied the game in the fifth. Robbie Grossman doubled home two runs during a four-run seventh. Spencer Strider (10-4) gave up two runs on two hits over six innings.
