Austin Cole Brummitt

Austin Cole Brummitt, 23, of Milan, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at his home.

Austin was born on December 29, 1998, to Wesley Brummitt and Rebecca (Gray) Cordray. He graduated from Milan High School in 2017, and then joined the United States Army. He graduated basic from Fort Benning, Georgia in 2018, before being stationed at Fort Irwin, California until 2021 when he returned to Milan.

Austin is survived by his parents; Father, Wesley (Cyndy) Brummitt of Milan, Mother, Rebecca (Chad) Cordray of Columbia; Siblings, Haley Brummitt, Julia Miranda, Mia Castellon, Porsha Cordray, Hunter Cordray, Cierra Dunlap, Brookelynn Rardon, Braydon Rardon; and Aunt, Brandy (Jared) Kehr of Meadville; Uncles, Jerad (Nina) Gray of Browning and Jason Brummitt of Milan; Grandparents, Gary and Denise Gray of Purdin and Debbie Clark of Milan; Great Grandparents, Jean Gray of Milan, Arlene DeVore of Purdin, and John Brummitt of Lemons, Missouri; and several great aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandpa, John Brummitt; and Great Grandparents, Barbara Brummitt, Gary Gray, Sr., and Neil DeVore.

Austin loved hunting, fishing, camping, kayaking and being outdoors. He also enjoyed playing football and baseball in his younger years. Austin was a great storyteller and liked farming with his family. Austin loved his dog, Paco, and spending time with his family and friends.

A graveside memorial service for Austin will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 3, 2022 at White Oak Cemetery with Military Rites. Following the graveside, a Celebration of Life will be held at his father’s home, 54595 Pecan Road, Milan, Missouri. Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Homes is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to White Oak Cemetery.
