Tigers Pick Up Huge Win Over Chillicothe

The Kirksville Tigers picked up a big signature win for the football program Friday over Chillicothe 40-14. The Tigers overcame the loss of injured Drew Chrisman and Michael Corbett, and the loss of Christian Mendez who got hurt early in the game. Chillicothe scored on the first play from scrimmage, an 84 yard run by Cayden Potter, but from then on it was all Kirksville. With 6:51 to go in the first, the Tigers capped off a 14 play, 94 yard drive with an Issac Danielson TD pass to Kendrck Hartman on 4th and 15 to tie the game at 7-7. Then Danielson scored on a 32 yard run with 3:27 left in the first to give the Tigers a 14-7 lead. With 4:31 left in the 2nd, Danielson scored again on a 1 yard plunge to make it 21-7 at the break. KHS picked right up in the 3rd quarter on a 9 play drive taking just 2;45 off the clock capped off by a 2 yard run by Jace Kent to make it 28-7. Then Kendrick Hartman slammed the door with an 85 yard interception return with 3:41 in the 3rd to give the Tigers a 34-7 lead and would go on to win 40-14. Balanced offensive attack for Kirksville, 164 rushing yards and 171 passing yards. Danielson was 13 for 20 with 2 touchdowns passing, and ran for 66 yards on 14 carries. The Tiger defense held the much heralded Chillicothe offense to only 230 total yards. The Tigers get to 1-1 on the year and will host Savannah next friday.
