NATIONAL LEAGUE
San Diego 6 – WASHINGTON 0… Blake Snell (5-6) pitched three-hit ball and struck out 10 over six innings before two relievers completed the Padres’ shutout of the Nationals. Wil Meyers went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Manny Machado drove in two runs with a pair of singles.
CINCINNATI 8 – Chi. Cubs 5… Jose Barrero singled home the tie-breaking run and Austin Romine added a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Reds put away the Cubs. Aristides Aquino blasted a three-run homer for Cincinnati.
N.Y. METS 6 – Philadelphia 0… Chris Bassitt (10-7) held the Phillies to four hits over five innings and four Mets relievers did the rest in the shutout win. Daniel Vogelbach hit a solo homer. Mark Canha had a couple of hits, including a run-scoring single.
Atlanta 3 – MIAMI 1… Michael Harris II led off the top of the ninth inning with a game-tying homer and the Braves scored twice more to upend the Marlins. Atlanta starter Bryce Elder allowed just a run on three hits and fanned out 10 over seven innings but didn’t get a decision.
ST. LOUIS 6 – Milwaukee 3… Dylan Carlson hit a game-tying solo homer and Albert Pujols added a three-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning to power the Cardinals past the Brewers. Pujols also homered to lead off the second.
Arizona 7 – COLORADO 4… The Diamondbacks scored the game’s first seven runs and coasted past the Rockies. Christian Walker went 4-for-5 with an RBI single and a three-run homer. Josh Rojas had a couple of hits and drove in two runs.
SAN FRANCISCO 8 – Pittsburgh 7… Thairo Estrada’s one-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Giants over the Pirates after San Francisco blew a five-run, fifth-inning lead. Lamonte Wade Jr. belted a three-run homer for the Giants. Wilmer Flores went 3-for-4 with an RBI double.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Cleveland 7 – TORONTO 2… Shane Bieber (8-6) gave up two runs on eight hits over seven innings and the Guardians cruised past the Blue Jays. Austin Hedges singled home a go-ahead run in the top of the second inning and doubled home a run in the fourth. Amed Rosario went 3-for-4 with a homer and an RBI single.
TAMPA BAY 4 – Baltimore 1… Drew Rasmussen (7-4) took a perfect game into the ninth inning and the Rays breezed past the Orioles. Randy Arozarena’s three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning provided all the offense Tampa Bay needed.
HOUSTON 6 – Oakland 3… Cristian Javier (7-8) surrendered just one hit over six scoreless innings and the Astros went on to double up on the Athletics. Alex Bregman homered with a runner aboard and doubled home a run. Jose Altuve stroked a two-run double.
CHI. WHITE SOX 5 – Detroit 3… The White Sox got solo homers from A.J. Pollock and Andrew Vaughn in easing past the Tigers. Vaughn also drove in a run with an infield grounder. Lance Lynn (3-5) allowed two runs on five hits over six innings.
TEXAS 5 – Seattle 3… Adolis Garcia singled home Corey Seager with a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Rangers fought their way past the Mariners. Bubba Thompson produced a two-run single for Texas.
L.A. ANGELS 4 – Minnesota 2… The Angels cruised past the Twins after spotting them an early two-run lead. Luis Rengifo tied the game with a two-run double in the bottom of the third inning and Kurt Suzuki lifted a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the fourth. Tucker Davidson (2-3) gave up two runs on four hits over six innings.
BOSTON 3 – N.Y. Yankees 0… Michael Wacha (7-1) pitched two-hit ball and struck out nine over seven innings and gave way to two relievers as the Red Sox blanked the Yankees. Rafael Devers homered with a runner aboard for Boston.
INTERLEAGUE
KANSAS CITY 4 – L.A. Dodgers 0… Brady Singer (6-4) limited the Dodgers to one hit over six innings and got help from three Royals relievers in the shutout. Salvador Perez doubled home the only run Kansas City needed in the bottom of the first inning. Vinnie Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and RBI single.
