NATIONALLEAGUE
PHILADELPHIA 4 – Miami 1… JT Realmuto hit a go-ahead leadoff homer and Jean Segura added a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Phillies breezed past the Marlins. Realmuto doubled home the game’s first runs in the first. Zack Wheeler (11-5) surrendered a run on five hits over six innings.
N.Y. METS 6 – Cincinnati 2… Carlos Carrasco (13-4) took a shutout into the seventh inning and the Mets cruised past the Reds. Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer. Jeff McNeil homered and singled home a run. Darin Ruf added a two-run single.
Washington 6 – CHI. CUBS 5… Joey Menesez cracked a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning and the Nationals hung on to top the Cubs. Keibert Ruiz homered twice and knocked in Washington’s first four runs.
COLORADO 16 – St. Louis 5… C.J. Cron hit a three-run homer and doubled home two runs to lead the Rockies in their romp over the Cardinals. Randal Grichuk’s three-run homer capped a nine-run bottom of the third inning. Ryon McMahon homered with a runner aboard.
ARIZONA 6 – Pittsburgh 4… Ketel Marte and Jake McCarthy produced two-run singles in the bottom of the seventh inning to push the Diamondbacks past the Pirates. Tommy Henry (1-1) held Pittsburgh to a run on four hits over seven innings.
SAN DIEGO 7 – San Francisco 4… Manny Machado’s three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Padres a walkoff win over the Giants after San Diego blew a three-run ninth-inning lead. Juan Soto went 2-for-3 with a solo homer for San Diego.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
KANSAS CITY 4 – Chi. White Sox 2… Two-run homers by Vinnie Pasquantino and Nick Pratto carried the Royals past the White Sox in the opener of a doubleheader. Brady Singer (5-4) surrendered a run on five hits over 7-1/3 innings.
Chi. White Sox 3 – KANSAS CITY 2… Davis Martin allowed just a run on on three hits over 5-2/3 innings and the White Sox held off the Royals to earn a split of the twinbill. Lenyn Sosa and Gavin Sheets hit solo homers for Chicago.
BALTIMORE 6 – Toronto 5… Rougned Odor’s two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning powered the Orioles past the Blue Jays. Terrin Vavra also drove in two runs for Baltimore. Ryan Mountcastle had a couple of hits and an RBI.
Cleveland 5 – DETROIT 2… Shane Bieber (7-6) pitched four-hit ball over seven shutout innings as the Guardians topped the Tigers. Oscar Gonzalez had a couple of hits, including a two-run double.
HOUSTON 7 – Texas 5… The Astros came from four runs down to upend the Rangers. Aledmys Diaz unloaded a game-tying grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jose Altuve doubled home the tying run in the fifth and came around to score the go-ahead run on Yuli Gurriel’s sacrifice fly.
L.A. Angels 5 – OAKLAND 1… Shohei Ohtani (10-7) pitched four-hit ball over six innings and the Angels handled the Athletics. Ohtani helped himself at the plate with a solo homer. Taylor Ward belted a three-run homer for L.A.
SEATTLE 1 – N.Y. Yankees 0 (13 innings)… Pinch-hitter Luis Torrens singled home Eugenio Suárez with the game’s only run in the bottom of the 13th inning as the Mariners outlasted the Yankees. Five Seattle pitchers combined on a five-hitter. The game featured a duel between Seattle starter Luis Castillo and his counterpart Gerrit Cole.
INTERLEAGUE
Atlanta 9 – BOSTON 7 (11 innings)… Austin Riley tripled home a run in the top of the first inning, homered with a runner aboard in the third and singled home the two decisive runs in the 11th to lift the Braves over the Red Sox. Ronald Acuña, Jr., had three hits and scored three runs.
MILWAUKEE 5 – Tampa Bay 3… Kelton Wong doubled home two runs to cap a three-run bottom of the fifth inning and the Brewers hung on to down the Rays. Andrew McCutchen doubled home a run and singled in another. Freddy Peralta (4-2) allowed two runs on two hits over five innings.
L.A. DODGERS 10 – Minnesota 3… The Dodgers used a 15-hit attack to wallop the Twins. Trea Turner had a couple of hits and drove in three runs. Max Muncy homered and doubled home a run. Will Smith went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
