MLB Scores Wednesday 8-3

NATIONAL LEAGUE
Philadelphia 3 – ATLANTA 1… The Phillies came alive to score all three runs in the top of the eighth inning and upend the Braves. Nick Castellanos’ two-run homer capped the rally. Zack Wheeler (10-5) allowed a run on five hits over seven innings.

N.Y. Mets 9 – WASHINGTON 5… Newly acquired Daniel Vogelbach unloaded a grand slam to highlight the Mets’ romp over the Nationals. Pete Alonso added a two-run shot. Chris Bassitt (8-7) scattered six hits over seven scoreless innings.

MIAMI 3 – Cincinnati 0… Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara (10-4) allowed six hits in a complete-game shutout of the Reds. Jesus Aguilar’s solo homer in the top of the fourth inning provided all the offense Miami needed. Garrett Cooper drove in two more runs with a fifth-inning double.

PITTSBURGH 8 – Milwaukee 7… Bryan Reynolds’ homer to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Pirates a walkoff win over the Brewers after Pittsburgh let a three-run lead slip away in the eighth. Oneil Cruz smacked a two-run homer. Ke’Bryan Hayes knocked in three runs with a pair of singles.

SAN DIEGO 9 – Colorado 1… Newly acquired Brandon Drury connected for a grand slam and the Padres thrashed the Rockies. Jake Cronenworth added a two-run homer. Blake Snell (4-5) held Colorado to a run on four hits over six innings.

L.A. Dodgers 3 – SAN FRANCISCO 0… Julio Urías (11-6) scattered seven hits over six innings on the way to winning his sixth straight decision and three Dodgers relievers completed the shutout of the Giants. Miguel Vargas drove in two runs with a double and a single.

Chi. Cubs – ST. LOUIS (PPD)… Rain in St. Louis forced postponement of last night’s Cubs-Cardinals game. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
TAMPA BAY 3 – Toronto 2… Newly acquired David Peralta singled home Jose Siri with a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Rays hung on to edge the Blue Jays. Five Tampa Bay pitchers combined on a four-hitter.

Seattle 7 – N.Y. YANKEES 3… Eugenio Suárez belted a three-run homer, Carlos Santana followed with a solo shot and Jarred Kelenic connected for a two-run blast as the Mariners scored six runs in the top of the first inning and coasted past the Yankees. Luis Castillo (5-4) allowed three runs on five hits over 6-2/3 innings.

MINNESOTA 4 – Detroit 1… Joe Ryan (8-4) limited the Tigers to a run on three hits and struck out nine over five innings and the Twins cruised to the win. Sandy León opened the scoring with a two-run double in the bottom of the second inning.

Baltimore 6 – TEXAS 3… Pinch-hitter Terrin Vavra doubled home a tie-breaking run and in the top of the eighth inning and came around to score as the Orioles put away the Rangers. Robinson Chirinos went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and run-scoring single.

HOUSTON 6 – Boston 1… Jose Urquidy pitched two-hit ball and fanned 10 in a dominating seven-inning effort and the Astros breezed past the Red Sox. Newly acquired Trey Mancini cracked a two-run homer. Kyle Tucker added a two-run double.

CHI. WHITE SOX 4 – Kansas City 1… Jose Abreu’s three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning powered the White Sox past the Royals. Lance Lynn (2-4) limited Kansas City to a run on four hits over six innings.

Oakland 3 – L.A. ANGELS 1… Sean Murphy singled home a run in the top of the fourth inning and drilled a tie-breaking two-run homer in the sixth inning to lead the Athletics past the Angels. James Kaprielian (3-5) gave up just a run on six hits over 5-1/3 innings.

INTERLEAGUE
CLEVELAND 7 – Arizona 4… Amed Rosario’s three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning proved to be the difference as the Guardians topped the Diamondbacks. Oscar Gonzalez homered with the bases empty and singled home a run. Shane Bieber (6-6) surrendered two runs on four hits over six innings.
