MLB Scores Thursday 7-21

NATIONAL LEAGUE
L.A. DODGERS 9 – San Francisco 6… The Dodgers recovered to beat the Giants after blowing a 5-0 seventh-inning lead. Trayce Thompson tripled home the tying run and Mookie Wilson added a three-run homer during a four-run bottom of the eighth inning. Thompson also had an RBI double. Justin Turner doubled home two runs and scored on Hanser Alberto’s double in the third.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
HOUSTON 3 – N.Y. Yankees 2… J.J. Matijevic singled home Alex Bregman with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Astros a walkoff win over the Yankees in the opener of a doubleheader. Bregman staked Houston to an early lead with a run-scoring single in the first. Korey Lee added an RBI double in the second.

HOUSTON 7 – N.Y. Yankees 5… Chas McCormick’s two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to the difference as the Astros topped the Yankees to complete a sweep of the twinbill. Yordan Alvarez homered with the bases empty and doubled home two runs. Alex Bregman homered and singled home a run. Luis Garcia (8-5) allowed two runs on three hits over five innings.

Detroit 7 – OAKLAND 2… Robbie Grossman knocked in three runs with a pair of doubles to lead the Tigers past the Athletics in the opener of a doubleheader. Jonathan Schoop doubled home a run and lifted a sacrifice fly. Jeimer Candelario smacked a solo homer. Tarik Skubal (7-8) allowed just an unearned run on two hits over six innings

OAKLAND 5 – Detroit 0… Six pitchers combined on a four-hitter as the Athletics blanked the Tigers to claim a split of the twinbill. Sean Murphy hit a three-run homer as Oakland scored all five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

INTERLEAGUE
Texas 8 – MIAMI 0… Jonathan Gray (7-4) pitched four-hit ball over six innings and three Rangers relievers completed the shutout of the Marlins. Adolis Garcia led the offense with a two-run homer and RBI single. Leody Taveras capped the scoring with a two-run double.
