NATIONAL LEAGUE
WASHINGTON 7 – Atlanta 3… Victor Robles’ two-run homer capped a four-run bottom of the seventh inning and the Nationals cruised past the Braves to snap their nine-game skid. Ehire Adrianza knocked in three runs for Washington. Juan Soto homered with the bases empty.

Philadelphia 4 – MIAMI 0… Aaron Nola (6-7) pitched four-hit ball and struck out 10 over 8-1/3 innings as the Phillies blanked the Marlins to complete a three-game sweep. Philadelphia scored all four runs in the top of the fourth inning, capped by Yairo Muñoz’s two-run homer.

CHI. CUBS 3 – N.Y. Mets 2… The Cubs scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to squeeze past the Mets. Nico Hoerner’s third hit of the game was an RBI single that scored Willson Contreras with the decisive run.

Pittsburgh 8 – COLORADO 3… Kurt Newman had three hits, including a two-run single, and scored twice as the Pirates ripped the Rockies. Jake Marisnick added a two-run double. Michael Chavis went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

SAN FRANCISCO 9 – Milwaukee 5… LaMonte Wade, Jr., belted a three-run homer, Brandon Belt tacked on a two-run shot and the Giants outslugged the Brewers. Belt also singled home a run. Logan Webb (9-3) allowed just two runs on four hits over six innings.

Arizona 3 – SAN DIEGO 1… Merrill Kelly (9-5) held the Padres to a run on six hits over six innings and three Diamondbacks relievers shut the door. David Peralta broke a scoreless tie with a two-out solo homer in the top of the sixth inning. Jordan Luplow and Christian Walker drew bases-loaded walks in the seventh.

ST. LOUIS – Cincinnati – ST. LOUIS… Rain in St. Louis forced postponement of yesterday’s Reds-Cardinals game. It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on September 17.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
TORONTO 4 – Kansas City 2… The Blue Jays rallied past the Royals after spotting them an early two-run lead. Alejandro Kirk connected for a tie-breaking two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning. Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., had two hits and scored two runs.

N.Y. YANKEES 13 – Boston 2… The Yankees put up three runs in the bottom of the first inning and erupted to score eight more in the fourth to bury the Red Sox. Tim Locastro went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer. Joey Gallo also homered with a runner aboard. Gerrit Cole (9-2) surrendered two runs on four hits and fanned 12 over seven innings.

TAMPA BAY 7 – Baltimore 5… Brett Phillips cracked a three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning to give the Rays a 6-0 lead and they held on to down the Orioles. Randy Arozarena homered with a runner aboard. Francisco Mejia added a solo shot. Brandon Lowe went 4-for-4 and scored a run.

Chi. White Sox 11 – MINNESOTA 0… Dylan Cease (9-4) limited the Twins to one hit over seven innings and got help from two White Sox relievers in the shutout. Josh Harrison connected for a three-run homer. Yoan Moncada and Andrew Vaughn also went deep.

Oakland 4 – HOUSTON 3… The Athletics came from three runs down to upend the Astros. Stephen Vogt tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning and singled home Chad Pinder with the decisive run in the eighth. Pinder had three hits and an RBI for Oakland.

Seattle 6 – TEXAS 2… Cal Raleigh hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning and the Mariners breezed past the Rangers to extend their winning streak to 14 games. Ty France homered and singled home a run for Seattle. Julio Rodriguez lined a two-run double.

Detroit – CLEVELAND (ppd)… Rain in Cleveland forced postponement of yesterday’s Tigers-Guardians game. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on August 15.
