MLB Scores Tuesday 6-21

NATIONAL LEAGUE
MIAMI 9 – Colorado 8… The Marlins erased an early four-run deficit and then let a three run lead slip away before putting away the Rockies. Garrett Cooper doubled home the decisive run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Avisail Garcia belted a three-run homer and Jesus Sanchez added a solo shot for Miami.

L.A. Dodgers 8 – CINCINNATI 2… Freddie Freeman came up a homer short of a cycle and knocked in five runs to lead the Dodgers past the Reds. Will Smith smacked a solo homer in the top of the first inning. Tony Gonsolin (9-0) allowed two runs on three hits over five innings.

PITTSBURGH 7 – Chi. Cubs 1.. Roansy Contreras (2-1) held the Cubs to a run on four hits over five innings and the Pirates cruised to the win. Michael Perez and Bligh Madris hit solo homers. Daniel Vogelbach doubled, singled and drove in two runs.

San Francisco 12 – ATLANTA 10… Austin Wynns went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and RBI double and the Giants slugged their way past the Braves. Joc Pederson also went deep. Mike Yastrzemski stroked a two-run double and Wilmer Flores added a two-run single.

St. Louis 6 – MILWAUKEE 2… Nolan Gorman went 4-for-4 with a pair of solo homers and four RBIs in leading the Cardinals past the Brewers. Willy Adames’ game-tying two-run homer in the first accounted for Milwaukee’s offense.

SAN DIEGO 3 – Arizona 2 (11 innings)… Jorge Alfaro singled home pinch-runner Jose Azocar in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Padres over the Diamondbacks. Eric Hosmer connected for a game-tying solo homer in the sixth.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
BOSTON 5 – Detroit 4… Trevor Story cracked a go-ahead three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and Christian Vázquez’s solo shot in the seventh proved to be decisive as the Red Sox held off the Tigers. J.D. Martinez put Boston on the board with a game-tying sacrifice fly in the first.

TAMPA BAY 5 – N.Y. Yankees 4… Isaac Paredes homered three times in three at-bats and knocked in four runs to power the Rays past the Yankees. Tampa Bay’s other run came on a Harold Ramirez homer.

Cleveland 6 – MINNESOTA 5 (11 innings)… The Guardians blew an early three-run lead, then rallied from two runs down after seven innings to outlast the Twins. Andrés Giménez singled home Oscar Gonzalez with a go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning. Franmil Reyes hit a game-tying two-run homer in the eighth. Josh Naylor also homered with a runner aboard for Cleveland.

CHI. WHITE SOX 7 – Toronto 6 (12 innings)… Josh Harrison singled home Jose Abreu in the bottom of the 12th inning to give the White Sox a hard-fought win over the Blue Jays. Luis Robert’s two-run single tied the game in the ninth and both teams scored single runs in the 10th and 11th innings.

Kansas City 12 – L.A. ANGELS 11 (11 innings)… Whit Merrifield doubled home a run and came around to score on Kyle Isbel’s infield single in the top of the 11th inning and the Royals hung on to top the Angels after L.A.’s Shohei Ohtani forced extra innings with a three-run homer in the ninth. Carlos Santana went 4-for-5 with a homer and five RBIs for Kansas City. Bobby Witt, Jr., had three hits, including a pair of homers, and drove in four runs.

Seattle 8 – OAKLAND 2… Marco Gonzales (4-7) held the Athletics to two runs on seven hits over seven innings and the Mariners cruised to the victory. Julio Rodriguez smacked a two-run homer before Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez followed with solo shots as during a five-run top of the seventh inning. Taylor Trammell also went deep for Seattle.

INTERLEAGUE
Washington 3 – BALTIMORE 0… Erick Fedde (5-5) pitched two-hit ball over six innings and three Nationals relievers preserved the shutout of the Orioles. Lane Thomas went 2-for-4 with a solo homer for Washington.

TEXAS 7 – Philadelphia 0… Martin Perez (5-2) scattered six hits over six innings and three relievers shut the door as the Rangers breezed past the Phillies. Marcus Semien and Kole Calhoun hit two-run homers. Jonah Heim and Nate Lowe added solo shots.

HOUSTON 8 – N.Y. Mets 2… Third-inning homers by Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez staked the Astros to a three-run lead and Kyle Tucker broke the game open with a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jose Siri added a solo homer for Houston. Jose Urquidy (6-3) allowed a run on four hits over six innings.
