Cardinals Beat Brewers Behind Gorman’s Bat

Nolan Gorman hit two home runs to help the St. Louis Cardinals beat Milwaukee 6-2.

Gorman went 4 for 4 with a pair of solo shots and four RBI as the Cardinals snapped Milwaukee’s four-game winning streak and regained a share of the NL Central lead.

Zack Thompson (1-0) picked up the win in relief, starter Jack Flaherty worked three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, but walked five.

RHP Adam Wainwright (5-5, 3.06 ERA) starts for the Cardinals and LHP Eric Lauer (6-2, 3.57) gets the call for the Brewers Wednesday night, 6:15 with the pregame and the first pitch at 7:10 on KIRX.

1B Paul Goldschmidt wasn’t in the lineup due to back tightness. RHP Jordan Hicks pitched one scoreless inning in a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Memphis as he recovers from a forearm strain.
