NATIONAL LEAGUE…
CINCINNATI 14 – Arizona 8… The Reds built a 9-0 lead after three innings and added a five-run eighth to put away the Diamondbacks. Joey Votto belted a three-run homer. Brandon Drury, Brian Reynolds and Tyler Stephenson added two-run shots. Tommy Pham also went deep.
MIAMI 12 – Washington 2… Jazz Chisholm, Jr., hit a pair of homers, including a grand slam, to lead the Marlins in their thrashing of the Nationals. Nick Fontes blasted a three-run shot and Jorge Soler homered with a runner aboard for Miami. Edward Cabrera (2-0) allowed a run on two hits over six innings.
Philadelphia 3 – MILWAUKEE 2… Alec Bohm and pinch-hitter Matt Vierling smacked solo homers in the top of the ninth inning to power the Phillies past the Brewers. Bryce Harper lifted a sacrifice fly for Philadelphia.
SAN DIEGO 7 – N.Y. Mets 0… Yu Darvish (5-3) pitched two-hit ball over seven innings and got plenty of support in the Padres’ blanking of the Mets. Reliever Adrian Morejon completed the shutout.
Colorado 5 – SAN FRANCISCO 3… Charlie Blackmon connected for a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning and the Rockies held on to top the Giants. Connor Joe homered to lead off the game.
AMERICAN LEAGUE…
CLEVELAND 6 – Texas 3… Owen Miller’s tie-breaking two-run single in the bottom of the third inning sparked a four-run rally that carried the Guardians past the Rangers in the doubleheader opener. Amed Rosario had three hits and knocked in a run.
Texas 6 – CLEVELAND 3… Marcus Semien went 4-for-4 with a pair of solo homers and the Rangers doubled up on the Guardians to earn a split of the doubleheader. Nate Lowe had three hits, including a two-run homer.
N.Y. Yankees 10 – MINNESOTA 4… Aaron Judge homered with a runner aboard in the top of the first inning and added a two-run single in the fourth as the Yankees pounded the Twins. Anthony Rizzo blasted a three-run homer. Giancarlo Stanton also went deep.
HOUSTON 4 – Seattle 1… Justin Verlander (7-2) allowed a run on six hits and struck out 12 over seven innings as the Astros cruised past the Mariners. Yordan Alvarez hit a two-run homer for Houston.
Toronto 7 – KANSAS CITY 0… Alex Manoah (7-1) scattered six hits over six innings and three relievers held the Royals hitless the rest of the way in the Blue Jays’ shutout win. Matt Chapman and Teoscar Hernández stroked two-run doubles for Toronto.
Boston 6 – L.A. ANGELS 5 (10 innings)… Christian Vázquez singled home Trevor Story with a tie-breaking run in the top of the 10th inning and the Red Sox hung on to hand the Angels their 13th straight loss. Bobby Dalbec drove in two runs with a pair of singles.
INTERLEAGUE…
BALTIMORE 9 – Chi. Cubs 3… Jorge Mateo belted a three-run homer and the Orioles got solo shots from Trey Mancini, Cedric Mullins, Austin Hays and Ramon Urías in their romp over the Cubs. Hays also doubled home a run.
Detroit 5 – PITTSBURGH 3… Harold Castro’s two-run single capped a three-run top of the fourth inning and the Tigers fought off the Pirates in a rain-delayed contest. Tarik Skubal (5-2) allowed three runs on six hits over seven innings in winning his fourth straight decision.
TAMPA BAY 4 – St. Louis 2 (10 innings)… Taylor Walls cracked a two-out, three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Rays over the Cardinals. Isaac Paredes’ sacrifice fly in the seventh scored the game’s first run.
ATLANTA 3 – Oakland 2… Ronald Acuña, Jr., smacked a pair of leadoff homers and Guillermo Heredia’s tie-breaking solo shot in the bottom of the seventh inning proved decisive as the Braves edged the Athletics. Kyle Wright (6-3) allowed two runs on five hits over eight innings.
CHI. WHITE SOX 4 – L.A. Dodgers 0… Michael Kopech (2-2) limited the Dodgers to just one hit over six innings and four White Sox relievers completed the shutout. A.J. Pollock doubled home two runs against his former team.
