NATIONAL LEAGUE
San Francisco 7 – PHILADELPHIA 4 (11 innings)… Donovan Walton doubled home a tie-breaking run and Joc Pederson belted a two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning and the Giants outlasted the Phillies. Luis González went 4-for-5 with a two-run double for San Francisco.
N.Y. METS 10 – Washington 0… The Mets pounded out 17 hits in their romp over the Nationals. Starling Marte and Eduardo Escobar smacked two-run homers. Mark Canha had four hits, including a two-run double.
ST. LOUIS 3 – San Diego 2 (10 innings)… Albert Pujols’ sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning scored Tommy Edman with the winning run as the Cardinals outlasted the Padres. Pujols’ third-inning sacrifice fly brought home Paul Goldschmidt with St. Louis’ first run.
CHI. CUBS 8 – Milwaukee 7… Patrick Wisdom hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Cubs hung on to edge the Brewers. P.J. Higgins homered with a runner aboard. Willson Contreras had two hits and knocked in two runs.
ARIZONA 8 – Atlanta 7 (10 innings)… The Diamondbacks came from four runs down to top the Braves. Cooper Hummel doubled home David Peralta with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Daulton Varsho’s sacrifice fly tied the game in the ninth. Christian Walker hit a two-run homer for Arizona.
Pittsburgh 5 – L.A. DODGERS 3… Two-run homers by Michael Chavis and Tucupita Marcano staked the Pirates to an early lead and they held on to beat the Dodgers. Mitch Keller (2-5) allowed two runs on two hits over five innings.
Miami – COLORADO (ppd)… Rain in Denver forced postponement of last night’s Marlins-Rockies game. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Minnesota 8 – DETROIT 2… Max Kepler had three hits and drove in three runs to lead the Twins past the Tigers in the opener of a doubleheader. Gary Sánchez belted a three-run homer. Devin Smeltzer (2-0) gave up two runs on six hits over 6-2/3 innings.
DETROIT 4 – Minnesota 0… Five pitchers combined on a three-hitter as the Tigers blanked the Twins to earn a split of the twinbill. Jonathan Schoop homered and knocked in all four Detroit runs.
CLEVELAND 8 – Kansas City 3… Austin Hedges connected for a three-run homer, Oscar Gonzalez doubled home two runs and the Guardians ripped the Royals. Cal Quantrill (2-3) allowed three runs on six hits over 6-1/3 innings.
N.Y. YANKEES 9 – L.A. Angels 1… The Yankees opened with a four-run bottom of the first inning and never looked back in handing the Angels their sixth straight loss. Jose Trevino went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer. DJ LeMahieu and Matt Carpenter added two RBIs apiece. Jordan Montgomery (1-1) allowed just a run on four hits over seven innings.
Seattle 10 – BALTIMORE 0… Taylor Trammell went 3-for-4 with four RBIs in leading the Mariners in their romp over the Orioles. Cal Raleigh drove in three runs. George Kirby pitched four-hit ball over six innings and two relievers shut the door.
TORONTO 6 – Chi. White Sox 5… Alejandro Kirk smacked a pair of two-run homers to power the Blue Jays past the White Sox for their sixth straight win. Teoscar Hernandez doubled home Toronto’s other two runs.
TEXAS 3 – Tampa Bay 0… Martin Perez (4-2) limited the Rays to three hits over seven innings and two Rangers relievers completed the shutout. Corey Seager hit a leadoff homer and Adolis Garcia added a two-run shot as Texas scored all three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Houston 3 – OAKLAND 1… Chas McCormick led off the top of the eighth inning with a tie-breaking homer and the Astros added an insurance run to put away the Athletics. Five Houston relievers tossed five scoreless innings.
INTERLEAGUE
Cincinnati 2 – BOSTON 1… The Reds used a pair of unearned runs to squeak past the Red Sox. A throwing error by Boston shortstop Xavier Bogaerts in the top of the ninth inning allowed pinch-runner Alejo Lopez to score what proved to be the decisive run. Matt Reynolds scored the game’s first run in the sixth on a throwing error by Boston third-baseman Rafael Devers.
