NATIONAL LEAGUE
Milwaukee 7 – CHI. CUBS 6… Luis Urias belted a tie-breaking three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning and the Brewers held on to top the Cubs in the doubleheader opener. Tyrone Taylor homered with a runner aboard and Jayce Peterson smacked a solo shot for Milwaukee.
Milwaukee 3 – CHI. CUBS 1… Aaron Ashby held the Cubs to a run on five hits over six innings and the Brewers completed a sweep of the twinbill. Victor Caratini hit a go-ahead solo homer in the top of the sixth inning. Tyrod Taylor added an eight-inning homer.
ST. LOUIS 6 – San Diego 3… Nolan Gorman and Paul Goldschmidt connected for two-run homers to help power the Cardinals past the Padres. Tommy Edman and Yadier Molina also drove in runs.
San Francisco 5 – PHILADELPHIA 4 (10 innings)… Curt Casali belted a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning and the Giants hung on to outlast the Phillies. Wilmer Flores’ two-run homer tied the game in the sixth and Evan Longoria gave San Francisco a brief lead with a solo shot in the ninth.
COLORADO 7 – Miami 1… The Rockies scored all seven runs in their final two at-bats to blow away the Marlins. Pinch-hitter Yonathan Daza delivered a bases-clearing double to spark a four-run bottom of the seventh inning and lifted a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Garrett Hampson legged out a two-run triple.
N.Y. METS 13 – Washington 5… The Mets rolled past the Nationals after spotting them an early three-run lead. Starling Marte and Nick Plummer each homered and knocked in four runs. Francisco Lindor had three hits and two RBIs.
ARIZONA 6 – Atlanta 2… Pavin Smith blasted a three-run homer, Ketel Marte doubled home two runs and the Diamondbacks downed the Braves. Zac Gallen (4-0) allowed two runs on seven hits over 5-2/3 innings.
Pittsburgh 6 – L.A. DODGERS 5… The Pirates scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to top the Dodgers after blowing a four-run lead. Michael Perez singled home the tying run and an error by L.A. first-baseman Freddie Freeman allowed pinch-runner Michael Chavis to score the decisive run. Tucupita Marcano belted a three-run homer and Bryan Reynolds added a solo shot for Pittsburgh.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
DETROIT 7 – Minnesota 5… The Tigers took advantage of some sloppy fielding to pull past the Twins. Derek Hill homered. Willin Castro stroked a pair of run-scoring singles. Jonathan Schoop singled, doubled, tripled and scored a run.
Houston 5 – OAKLAND 1… Astros starter Framber Valdez (5-2) limited the Athletics to a run on two hits in a complete-game victory. Jose Altuve homered with a runner aboard and Yordan Alvarez added a pair of solo blasts.
CLEVELAND 7 – Kansas City 3… Andres Giménez connected for a tie-breaking three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to help power the Guardians past the Royals. Jose Ramírez singled home a run and homered with a runner aboard.
Baltimore 10 – BOSTON 0… Tyler Wells (2-4) pitched two-hit ball over six innings and three relievers completed the Orioles’ blanking of the Red Sox. Anthony Santander hit a three-run homer and lifted a sacrifice fly. Ryan Mountcastle and Ramon Urías also went deep.
TEXAS 9 – Tampa Bay 5… Kole Calhoun knocked in three runs with a single and a double as the Rangers outslugged the Rays. Eli White homered with a runner aboard. Jonah Heim added a solo shot.
