NATIONAL LEAGUE
MIAMI 8 – Washington 2… The Marlins banged out 16 hits in downing the Nationals. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Bryan De La Cruz had three hits apiece. Sandy Alcantara (3-2) allowed just a run on three hits over eight innings.

CHI. CUBS 9 – Pittsburgh 0… Willson Contreras unloaded a grand slam to highlight an eight-run bottom of the first inning and the Cubs never looked back in their romp over the Pirates. Wade Miley (1-0) pitched one-hit ball over eight innings and Michael Rucker completed the shutout.

MILWAUKEE 1 – Atlanta 0… Hunter Renfroe scored the game’s only run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Brewers clipped the Braves. Freddy Peralta (3-1) gave up two hits and struck out 10 over seven innings in outdueling counterpart Ian Anderson.

San Francisco 7 – COLORADO 6… Mike Yastrzemski lifted a sacrifice fly and smacked a tie-breaking solo homer in the top of the ninth inning as the Giants edged the Rockies. Curt Casali went 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBIs.

L.A. DODGERS 5 – Arizona 4… Chris Taylor’s two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the difference in the Dodgers’ win over the Diamondbacks. Tony Gonsolin surrendered two runs on three hits over six innings.

St. Louis – N.Y. METS (ppd)… Rain in New York forced postponement of last night’s Mets-Cardinals game. It will be made up today as part of a doubleheader.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Detroit 3 – TAMPA BAY 2… Harold Castro’s two-out solo homer in the top of the ninth inning lifted the Tigers over the Rays for their fourth straight win. Jonathan Schoop homered with a runner aboard in the fourth.

N.Y. Yankees 6 – BALTIMORE 2… Jose Trevino belted a three-run drive in the top of the fourth inning and the Yankees cruised past the Orioles. Josh Donaldson and Anthony Rizzo also went deep. Luis Severino (3-0) allowed a run on one hit over six innings.

TORONTO 6 – Seattle 2… Home runs by Bo Bichette and Matt Chapman helped power the Blue Jays past the Mariners. Yusei Kikuchi (2-1) pitched one-hit ball over six scoreless innings.

BOSTON 6 – Houston 3… Xander Bogaerts connected for a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Red Sox doubled up on the Astros. Trevor Story belted a game-tying homer in the seventh.

TEXAS 7 – L.A. Angels 4… The Rangers opened with a six-run bottom of the first inning and coasted past the Angels. Eli White had two hits and two RBIs to key the uprising. Jonah Heim homered for Texas.

Chi. White Sox 5 – KANSAS CITY 3 (10 innings)… The White Sox came from three runs down in the eighth inning to outlast the Royals. Luis Robert drilled a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning. Yasmani Grandal also homered with a runner aboard.

Minnesota 3 – OAKLAND 1.,, Byron Buxton singled home Royce Lewis with a go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning and the Twins held off the Athletics. Lewis also scored the game’s first run in the third on a Jorge Polanco single. Gary Sanchez homered for Minnesota,
