MLB Scores Tuesday 5-10

NATIONAL LEAGUE
L.A. Dodgers 11 – PITTSBURGH 1… Justin Turner had four hits, including three doubles and knocked in four runs to lead the Dodgers in their pounding of the Pirates. L.A. pounded out eight doubles in all. Edwin Rios had three hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs. Tony Gonsolin (3-0) allowed just one hit in five shutout innings.

Milwaukee 5 – CINCINNATI 4…  The Brewers held off the Reds to end their three-game skid. Josh Hader reached 500 career strikeouts, Luis Urías smacked a solo homer. Jace Peterson doubled twice and knocked in a run.

N.Y. Mets 4 – WASHINGTON 2… The Mets eased past the Nationals after spotting them a two-run lead. Jeff McNeil double home two runs in the top of the sixth inning to give New York the lead for good. Carlos Carrasco (3-1) gave up two runs on six hits over 6-2/3 innings.

SAN DIEGO 5 – Chi. Cubs 4… Manny Machado stroked a go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Padres held off the Cubs. Eric Hosmer followed with an infield single that scored Jurickson Profar with the decisive run.

ARIZONA 9 – Miami 3… The Diamondbacks blasted the Marlins for their seventh win in eight games. Jordan Luplow hit a game-tying two-run in the bottom of the first inning. Geraldo Perdomo and Alek Thomas drove in two runs apiece. Miami has lost nine of 10.

SAN FRANCISCO 9 – Colorado 2… Curt Casali went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and the Giants beat the Rockies for the ninth straight time. LaMonte Wade, Jr., also drove in two runs. Alex Wood (3-2) scattered seven hits over 5-1/3 innings.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Detroit 6 – OAKLAND 0… Tarik Skubal (2-2) allowed three hits in seven innings and two Tigers relievers completed the shutout of the Athletics in the opener of a doubleheader caused by Major League Baseball’s lockout. Oakland was the visiting team on the opponents’ home field. Detroit entered the game hitless over its previous 27 innings. Jeimer Candelario had three hits including a bases-clearing double. Jonathan Schoop smacked a solo homer.

Oakland 4 – DETROIT 1… Adrian Martinez (1-0) held the Tigers to four hits over 5-1/3 on his way to winning in his major-league debut and the Athletics earned a split of the twinbill. Kevin Smith had a couple of hits and an RBI for Oakland.

N.Y. YANKEES 6 – Toronto 5… Aaron Judge crushed a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Yankees a walkoff win over the Blue Jays. Giancarlo Stanton connected for a three-run blast in the sixth.

Houston 5 – MINNESOTA 0… Justin Verlander (4-1) came within five outs of a no-hitter in a dominating performance and the Astros blanked the Twins for their eighth straight win. Jeremy Peña and Alex Bregman knocked in two runs apiece for Houston.

TEXAS 6 – Kansas City 4… Corey Seager smacked a pair of solo homers to help power the Rangers past the Royals. Kole Calhoun produced a two-run single. Martin Perez (1-2) gave up a run on five hits over 6-1/3 innings.

CHI. WHITE SOX 4 – Cleveland 1… Lucas Giolito (2-1) limited the Guardians to a run on six hits over seven innings and the White Sox won for the seventh time in eight games. Gavin Sheets homered in his second straight game. Tim Anderson had three hits and two RBIs.

L.A. ANGELS 12 – Tampa Bay 0… Rookie left-hander Reid Detmers (2-1) pitched the majors’ second no-hitter this season and got plenty of support in the Angels’ bombing of the Rays. Mike Trout homered twice and drove in three runs. Anthony Rendon and Chad Wallach also went deep.

INTERLEAGUE
Boston 9 – ATLANTA 4… Rafael Devers unloaded a grand slam during a six-run top of the second inning and the Red Sox never looked back in their bashing of the Braves. Trevor Story had a couple of hits and knocked in two runs.

Baltimore 5 – ST. LOUIS 4… The Orioles scored the game’s first five runs and held off the Cardinals. They got home runs from Cedric Mullins and Tyler Nevin. Kyle Bradish (1-1) surrendered two runs on four hits and struck out 11 over seven innings.

SEATTLE 5 – Philadelphia 4… Ty France and Eugenio Suarez each had a couple of hits and an RBI as the Mariners edged the Phillies. Robbie Ray (3-3) gave up two runs on four hits and fanned 10 over 5-2/3 innings.
