Florida 3 – WASHINGTON 2 (OT)… Carter Verhaeghe scored his second of the game at 4:57 of overtime to give the Panthers a come-from-behind win over the Capitals and even the Eastern Conference first-round series at two games apiece. Sam Reinhart netted a tying goal with 2:04 left in regulation. The series returns to Florida for Game 5 tomorrow.
PITTSBURGH 7 – N.Y. Rangers 2… Sidney Crosby scored a goal and assisted on three others as the Penguins skated past the Rangers to take a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference first-round playoff series. Jake Guentzel scored for the fourth consecutive game. The series moves to New York for Game 5 tomorrow.
Colorado 5 – NASHVILLE 3… the Avalanche used a three-goal third period to put away the Predators and complete a sweep of the Western Conference first-round playoff series. Valeri Nichushkin netted a tie-breaking goal with 7:58 left. Andre Burakovsky had a goal and two assists. Cale Makar added a goal and an assist. Goalie Pavel Francouz made 28 saves. Colorado awaits the winner of the Minnesota-St. Louis series in the second round.
Calgary 4 – DALLAS 1… The Stars cruised past the Stars to bring the Western Conference first-round playoff series even at two games apiece. Johnny Gaudreau scored on a penalty shot with 12:13 remaining to spark a three-goal third period. Gaudreau also assisted on Elias Lindholm’s third goal of the series. Jacob Markstrom stopped 34 shots at goal. Game 5 is tomorrow in Calgary.
