MLB Scores Monday 5-2

NATIONAL LEAGUE
Arizona 5 – MIAMI 4… The Diamondbacks took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning and held off the Marlins. David Peralta homered, singled twice and drove in three runs. Zac Gallen (1-0) allowed just two hits over the first 6-1/3 innings.

Atlanta 5 – N.Y. METS 2… Travis d’Arnaud went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs in leading the Braves past the Mets in the opener of a four-game series. Austin Riley homered with the bases empty.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
CHI. WHITE SOX 3 – L.A. Angels 0… Dylan Cease (3-1) pitched one-hit ball and struck out 11 over seven innings before two relievers completed the White Sox’ blanking of the Angels. Chicago scored twice in the bottom of the first inning on an AJ Pollock RBI groundout and Jake Burger sacrifice fly. Adam Engel added a run-scoring double in the sixth.

Minnesota 2 – BALTIMORE 1… Carlos Correa singled home Byron Buxton with a tie-breaking run in the top of the sixth inning and the Twins hung on to edge the Orioles for their 10th win in 11 games. Chris Paddack allowed a run on four bits over 5-1/3 innings.

N.Y. Yankees 3 – TORONTO 2… Gleyber Torres homered with a runner aboard in the top of the inning and added a tie-breaking solo shot in the ninth to lead the Yankees past the Blue Jays for their 10th straight win. Clay Holmes (2-0) pitched 1-1-3 innings for the win and Chad Green worked a perfect ninth for his first save in three chances.

HOUSTON 3 – Seattle 0… Jake Odorizzi (2-2) pitched four-hit ball over 6-2/3 innings and got help from three relievers in the Astros’ shutout of the Mariners. Yordan Alvarez smacked a solo homer and Jeremy Peña added a two-run shot for Houston

Tampa Bay 6 – OAKLAND 1… Yandy Díaz homered to lead off the game and Wander Franco produced a pair of run-scoring singles as the Rays cruised past the Athletics. Manuel Margot had three hits, including an RBI double. Drew Rasmussen (2-1) limited Oakland to a run on one hit over five innings.
