The Kansas City Chiefs made a draft pick earlier than most expected on Thursday.
They traded up with the New England Patriots and selected Washington Huskies cornerback Trent McDuffie with the 21st pick of the NFL Draft.
McDuffie allowed just one reception of more than 20 yards last season for Washington, and he did not allow a touchdown catch in his past two seasons with the Huskies.
The Chiefs added more defense with their second pick of this year’s NFL Draft.
The Chiefs selected Purdue Boilermakers defensive end George Karlaftis with the 30th pick.
Karlaftis was a 2021 First Team All-American.
He played 27 games in his career and earned All-Big Ten honors following all three of his seasons in west Lafayette.
