NHL SCOREBOARD…
Calgary 5 – CHICAGO 2… Johnny Gaudreau, Dillon Dube and Blake Coleman scored first-period and the Flames never looked back in their win over the Blackhawks. Goalie Jacob Markstrom made 22 saves for playoff-bound Calgary, which has won seven of its last eight games.
Washington 3 – COLORADO 2… Marcus Johansson netted the go-ahead goal with 9:14 remaining and the Capitals made it stand in halting the Avalanche’s nine-game winning streak. Ilya Samsonov stopped 24 shots at goal.
Carolina 5 – ARIZONA 3… The Hurricanes scored the game’s first three goals and held off the Coyotes to snap a two-game skid. Sebastian Aho scored his 36th goal midway through the third period. Nino Niederreiter, Max Domi, Vincent Trocheck and Jesper Fast also found the net.
New Jersey 3 – VEGAS 2… The Devils surprised the Golden Knights and dealt a blow to their playoff hopes. Nathan Bastian had a goal and an assist. Andreas Johnsson and Jesper Boqvist also scored for New Jersey. Goalie Andrew Hammond made 42 saves.
SEATTLE 4 – Ottawa 2… The Kraken made it back-to-back wins with their defeat of the Senators. Matty Beniers scored in his second straight game to become the third NHL rookie this season to record a point in his first three contests. Seattle also got goals from Daniel Sprong and Victor Rask. Jordan McCann’s empty-netter with 1:11 left capped the scoring.
VANCOUVER 5 – Dallas 2… The Canucks skated past the Stars for their sixth straight win. Elias Pettersson scored two goals and assisted on another. Brock Boeser and Jason Dickinson each had a goal and two assists. Oliver Ekman-Larsson set up two goals.
