MLB SCOREBOARD…
NATIONAL LEAGUE
N.Y. METS 5 – Arizona 0…  Starter David Peterson and four relievers combined on a five-hitter and the Mets blanked the Diamondbacks. Pete Alonso slugged a two-run homer.

PITTSBURGH 5 – Washington 3… The Pirates came from three runs down in the sixth inning to upend the Nationals. Michael Chavis singled home the go-ahead run during a three-run top of the seventh inning.

MIAMI 11 – Philadelphia 3…  Jazz Chisholm Jr. tripled, doubled and drove in three runs to lead the Marlins in their pounding of the Phillies. Jesús Sánchez added three hits and two RBIs. Miami starter Elieser Hernández (1-1) allowed a run and five hits in six innings.

MILWAUKEE 6 – St. Louis 5… Tyrone Taylor’s two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning proved to be decisive in the Brewers’ win over the Cardinals. Closer Josh Hader worked a perfect ninth for his fourth save of the season and 100th of his career.

Chi. Cubs 6 – COLORADO 4… Solo homers from Willson Contreras and Seiya Suzuki helped power the Cubs past the Rockies. Nick Madrigal had three hits and scored twice.

L.A. DODGERS 9 – Cincinnati 1… Freddie Freeman went 4-for-5 and knocked in three runs and the Dodgers used a seven-run bottom of the fourth inning to bury the Reds.  Andrew Heaney tossed one-hit ball over six innings and struck out 11. Cincinnati has lost six straight.

SAN DIEGO 2 – Atlanta 1… Padres starter Yu Darvish (1-1) held the Braves to a run on four hits and struck out eight over 6 2/3 innings in outdueling two Atlanta pitchers. San Diego managed just three hits in the game. The Padres scored both runs in the bottom of the second inning on an Austin Nola hit-by-pitch and Jake Cronenworth’s infield grounder.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
BOSTON 8 – Minnesota 1… Michael Wacha pitched five shutout innings and four relievers did the rest as the Red Sox clobbered the Twins. Trevor Story stroked a two-run single to highlight a six-run bottom of the eighth inning.

BALTMORE 5 – N.Y. Yankees 0… Bruce Zimmermann and four relievers combined on a four-hitter and the Orioles shut out the Yankees. Pinch-hitter Rougned Odor broke a scoreless tie with a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning. Kelvin Gutiérrez followed with a two-run double and Jorge Mateo’s run-scoring single capped the scoring.

TORONTO 4 – Oakland 3… Alek Manoah (2-0) limited the Athletics to two runs on four hits over six innings and the Blue Jays hung on for the victory. Lourdes Gurriel, Jr., had a couple of hits and an RBI.

Tampa Bay 9 – CHI. WHITE SOX 3… The Rays opened with a four-run top of the first inning and added four more in the seventh to put away the White Sox. Randy Arozarena went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Manuel Margot also had three hits. Kevin Kiermaier and Francisco Mejia drove in two runs apiece.

L.A. Angels 8 – TEXAS 3… The Angels ripped the Rangers for their third straight win. Matt Duffy had three hits and knocked in a run. Tyler Wade went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

SEATTLE 7 – Houston 2… The Mariners jumped out to a 6-0 lead and coasted past the Astros to take three of four in the series. Ty France belted a three-run homer. Rookie starter Matt Brash (1-1) pitched five hitless innings.

Detroit – KANSAS CITY (ppd)… Rain in Kansas City forced postponement of yesterday’s Tigers-Royals game. It has been rescheduled for July 11 as part of a split doubleheader.

INTERLEAGUE
San Francisco 8 – CLEVELAND 1… Thairo Estrada homered and drove in four runs as the Giants thumped the Indians to complete a three-game sweep of the series and run their winning streak to five games. Brandon Belt added a two-run homer. Alex Wood (1-0) surrendered four hits over five scoreless innings.
