MLB SCOREBOARD…
NATIONAL LEAGUE
MILWAUKEE 5 – St. Louis 1… The Brewers cruised past the Cardinals in their home opener. Brandon Woodruff (1-0) allowed just three hits over threw five shutout innings. Omar Narváez homered and doubled for Milwaukee.

PITTSBURGH 9 – Washington 4… The Pirates overcame a three-run deficit to roll past the Nationals. Daniel Vogelbach homered to lead off the bottom of the first inning and finished with four hits. Bryan Reynolds hit a game-tying homer and Kevin Newman doubled home two runs in the third..

MIAMI 4 – Philadelphia 3… The Marlins clipped the Phillies in their home opener.  Garrett Cooper homered. Joey Wendle drove in two runs. Sandy Alcantara (1-0) allowed two runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings.

SAN DIEGO 12 – Atlanta 1… Manny Machado went 5 for 5 with a two-run homer and four runs scored to lead the Padres in their pounding of the Braves. Eric Hosmer went 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Luke Voit had two hits and drove in three runs. Joe Musgrove (1-0) surrendered four hits over 6-2/3 scoreless innings.

Chi. Cubs 5 – COLORADO 2…  Seiya Suzuki doubled home a run during a three-run first inning to extend his hitting streak to six games and the Cubs handled the Rockies. Frank Schwindel singled home a run and homered.

L.A. DODGERS 9 – Cincinnati 3… The Dodgers put away the Reds after blowing an early 3-0 lead. Trea Turner singled home Freddie Freeman with a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Will Smith followed with a three-run homer.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Oakland 6 – TAMPA BAY 3… The Athletics made it three of four in their series with the Rays. Cole Irvin (1-1) surrendered three runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings. Sean Murphy and Cristian Pache both had a couple of hits and an RBI.

Seattle 5 – CHI. WHITE SOX 1… The Mariners topped the White Sox to end a four-game skid. Jared Kelenic homered off the right-field foul pole in the top of the second inning with a runner aboard. Logan Gilbert (1-0) allowed just an unearned run and four hits in five innings and four relievers held Chicago hitless the rest of the way.

N.Y. YANKEES 3 – Toronto 0… The Yankees blanked the Blue Jays in a game that featured a 95-minute rain delay. Luis Severino (1-0) limited Toronto to two hits over five innings. Reliever Michael King escaped a bases-loaded, no-outs jam in the ninth. Jose Trevino produced run-scoring singles in the bottom of the third and fifth innings.

Texas 10 – L.A. ANGELS 5… Jonah Heim unloaded a grand slam and singled home a run as the Rangers doubled up on the Angels. Corey Seager also went deep for Texas.

Detroit 4 – KANSAS CITY 2… Victor Reyes singled home a tying run in the top of the seventh inning, Austin Meadows followed with an RBI single and the Tigers held off the Rangers. Miguel Cabrera had three of Detroit’s nine hits and is just six shy of 3,000 for his career.
