NHL Scores Tuesday 4-5

NHL SCOREBOARD…
BUFFALO 4 – Carolina 2… Victor Olofsson had a goal and an assist in the third period to help push the Sabres past the Hurricanes. Goalie Craig Anderson made 32 saves.

Ottawa 6 – MONTREAL 3… The Senators scored three unanswered goals in the third period to double up on the Canadiens. Justin Watson netted a pair of goals. Anton Forsberg made 27 saves at goal.

FLORIDA 7 – Toronto 6 (OT)… The Panthers erased a four-goal deficit in outlasting the Maple Leafs. Jonathan Huberdeau scored his second goal of the game at 2:47 of overtime and also had three assists. Sam Reinhart added a pair of goals. Aleksander Barkov had a goal and three assists.

N.Y. Rangers 3 – NEW JERSEY 1… Ryan Strome and Chris Kreider scored back-to-back power-play goals in the second period to give the Rangers the lead for good in their win over the Devils. Justin Braun added a third-period goal. Artemi Panarin recorded his 64th and 65th assists of the season.

Columbus 4 – PHILADELPHIA 2… Carson Meyer scored his first NHL goal and had an assist as the Blue Jackets topped the Flyers. Justin Danforth scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period. Goalie Elvis Merzlikins stopped 47 shots.

Colorado 6 – PITTSBURGH 4… Nathan MacKinnon found the net twice and the Avalanche clinched a playoff spot with their win over the Penguins. Goalie Darcy Kuemper stopped 41 shots in winning his 33rd game.

DETROIT 5 – Boston 3… The Red Wings downed the Bruins to snap a six-game losing streak. Jakub Vrána had a goal and an assist. Alex Nedeljkovic made a season-high 47 saves at goal and had an assist.

NASHVILLE 6 – Minnesota 2… Ryan Johansen scored three goals in his first career hat trick and the Predators skated past the Wild. Roman Josi and Philip Tomasino each had a goal and two assists. Filip Forsberg had three assists and Mattias Ekholm added two. Matt Duchene had a goal and an assist. Juuse Saros stopped a season-high 47 saves at goal.

DALLAS 3 – N.Y. Islanders 2… Radek Faksa scored a tie-breaking short-handed goal midway through the second period and the Stars made it stand in their win over the Islanders. The victory moved Dallas into the Western Conference’s second wild-card spot.

Edmonton 2 – SAN JOSE 1…  Connor McDavid’s goal 31 seconds into overtime extended his points streak to 14 games and lifted the Oilers over the Sharks for their fifth straight win. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins netted a game-tying short-handed goal with 8:04 remaining in regulation. Goalie Mike Smith made 31 saves.
