Edward Lyle Montgomery, 69, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Kirksville Manor Care Center.
Born June 23, 1952 in Kirksville, Edward was the son of Edger Lyle and Rosemary (Gage) Montgomery. On April 11, 1973 in Marceline, Missouri, Edward was united in marriage to Betty Shatto, who preceded him in death in 2004.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Earnest Montgomery; and one sister Lois Holloway.
Edward is survived by two daughters, Pamela Matthews of Kirksville, and Tammy Powell of Gallatin, Missouri; three brothers, Eugene (Robbie) Montgomery of Gainesville, Georgia, Ellison (Roberta) Montgomery of Murry, Kentucky, and Eldon (Heather) Montgomery of New Franklin, Missouri; three sisters, Lila (Howard) Easley of Kirksville, Lucy Gray of Gun Barrel, Texas, and Linda (Lester Newcomer) Montgomery of La Plata, Missouri; four grandchildren, Zachary (Alicia) Powell, Alexis Powell, Hailey (Zach Brewer) Powell and Danica Locust; and one great grandchild, Haidyn Powell.
He lived all of his life in the Greentop and Kirksville communities. He worked at the International Shoe Factory (later Florsheim Shoe) from 1970 until it closed. Once the factory closed, he went to work for D&D Cab Co.
Edward was a man always on the go. He enjoyed bluegrass music and being with his family.
Edward has been cremated and a public visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date.
