Pittsburgh 3 – ST. LOUIS 2 (SO)… Bryan Rust scored the decisive goal in the fourth round of a shootout to lift the Penguins over the Blues. Mike Matheson and Chad Ruhwedel scored in regulation for Pittsburgh. Goalie Tristan Jarry made 23 saves in notching his 30th victory.
N.Y. Islanders 2 – N.Y. RANGERS 1… Kyle Palmieri netted the tie-breaking goal with less than three minutes left in the third period and the Islanders hung on to edge the Rangers. Goalie Ilya Sorokin made 29 saves.
TORONTO 3 – Carolina 2… The Maple Leafs got past the Hurricanes despite playing without the suspended Auston Matthews. They got goals from Mitch Marner, Ilya Mikheyev and Ondrej Kase. Erik Kallgren made 34 saves at goal.
Dallas 4 – MONTREAL 3 (OT)… John Klingberg scored a tying goal late in regulation and added the game-winner at 4:50 of overtime to send the Stars past the Canadiens. Goalie Jake Oettinger made 28 stops.
PHILADELPHIA 5 – Nashville 4… Kevin Hayes scored the tying goal late in the third period and assisted on Joel Farabee’s game-winner with 1:19 remaining as the Flyers upended the Predators. Travis Sanheim had a goal and an assist.
Washington 7 – COLUMBUS 2… Anthony Mantha found the net twice to lead the Capitals in their romp over the Blue Jackets. Alex Ovechkin and Connor Sheary each had a goal and an assist. Nikolas Backstrom added two assists. Goalie Vitek Vanecek stopped 39 shots.
EDMONTON 6 – Buffalo 1… Connor McDavid, Kailer Yamamoto and Tyson Barrie each had a goal and an assist and the Oilers skated past the Sabres for their fourth victory in a row. Mike Smith made 27 saves at goal.
Detroit 1 – VANCOUVER 0… Pius Suter scored a second-period goal and the Red Wings made it stand in clipping the Canucks. Goalie Alex Nedeljkovic stopped all 43 shots.
LOS ANGELES 3 – San Jose 0… Goalie Cal Petersen turned away all 29 shots in the Kings’ blanking of the Sharks. Anze Kopitar scored on a power play. Phillip Danault and Adrian Kempe also lit the lamp Sean Durzi set up two goals.
VEGAS 5 – Florida 3… The Golden Knights recovered to top the Panthers and snap a five-game skid after blowing a two-goal lead. Nicolas Roy scored a go-ahead goal with 6:37 remaining. Evgenii Dadonov netted two goals. Aaron Ekblad assisted on three goals. Goalie Logan Thompson made 33 saves.
