Lady Tigers Close Out Season

Hallsville ended the Kirksville Lady Tigers season in the district championship game 52-36 Friday at Centralia. Hallsville came out on fire and opened a 17-2 lead. KHS had a rough 1st quarter from the field and only managed one basket by Jada Jackson. But, the Lady Tigers fought back in the 2nd period, outscoring Hallsville
16-6 and only trailed by 5 at the break 23-18. Kirksville continued to play hard in the third quarter and only trailed by 7, 35-28 at the end of the 3rd. KHS got to within 3 points for a while, 33-30, but Hallsville came up with some big turnovers and Kirksville was forced to foul. Hallsville went 9 out of 14 at the stripe in the 4th to pull away and Hallsville wins the district championship 52-36. Elli Porter led Kirksville with 9 points, including 7 out of 8 at the free throw line. Jada Jackson finished with 8, 7 for Channing Totta. Hallsville’s Avery Oetting led all scorers with 21 and went 6 for 7 at the free throw line. KHS ends the year at 21-5.
