Lady Tigers Win Regular Season Finale, Clinch Share Of NCMC Title

The Kirksville Lady Tigers celebrated Senior Night with a dominating win over Marshall Tuesday 68-33. KHS took a 24-6 lead at the end of the first, then outscored Marshall 23-8 in the 2nd quarter to lead at halftime 47-14. Senior Corinne Vorkink led the way with 21 points and was 7 for 9 at the free throw line. Senior Jenna Jackson scored 12, the other KHS Senior, Megan Pike had a couple of nice baskets in the fourth quarter to go along with her usual strong defense. Elli Porter was the other Lady Tiger in double figures with 10. KHS forced 23 turnovers as the take-away machine continues to roll. KHS climbs to 19-4 overall and clinches at least a share of the NCMC championship at 8-2. Next, the girls get ready for the Class 4 District 8 tournament in Centralia Saturday. They’re the 3rd seed and will play 6th seed Mexico for the fourth time this season. KHS is 2-1 against the Bulldogs. Pregame at 2:10, tip around 2:30.
