Blues Lose After Long Break

New Jersey 7 – ST. LOUIS 4… Nico Hischier scored two of the Devils’ five third-period goals in the win over the Blues. Yegor Sarangovich added a goal and two assists.

 

 

Columbus 4 – BUFFALO 3 (OT)… The Blue Jackets came from two goals down in the third period to outlast the Sabres. Jacub Voracek found the net 16 seconds into overtime. Voracek also assisted on Oliver Bjorkstrand’s tying goal with 5:35 left in regulation.

Carolina 6 – BOSTON 0… Goalie Frederik Anderson stopped all 34 shots and the Hurricanes skated past the Bruins. Sebastian Aho scored two goals. Andrei Svechnikov had a goal and two assists. Teuvo Teravainen assisted on three goals.

Pittsburgh 2 – OTTAWA 0… Casey DeSmith made 26 saves and the Penguins blanked the Senators for their fifth straight road win. Jeff Carter broke a scoreless tie with a second-period goal.

Washington 5 – MONTREAL 2… Joe Snively netted a pair of goals and assisted on another as the Capitals ruined the debut of Canadiens interim coach Martin St. Louis. Goalie Ilya Samsonov stopped 42 shots.

CALGARY 5 – Toronto 2… The Flames scored five straight goals spanning the second and third periods to put away the Maple Leafs. Noah Hanifan had a goal and two assists. Rasmus Andersson added a goal and an assist. Matthew Tkachuk had two assists.

COLORADO 3 – Tampa Bay 2… Valeri Nichushkin’s third-period goal proved to be the difference in the Avalanche’s win over the Lightning. Gabriel Landeskog and Devon Toews scored first-period goals. Darcy Kuemper made 34 saves at goal.
