KHS Tigers Get Past Palmyra

The Kirksville Tigers punched their ticket to the championship game of the Highland Tournament with a hard fought win over Palmyra 48-28 Friday. The Panthers gave KHS a taste of their own medicine by pressuring and displaying tight defense. Palmyra grabbed an early 11-4 lead, but Kirksville fought back to within two at the end of the first period, and took a 25-21 lead into the break. Then the Tigers rode their usual strong second half to pull away. KHS outscored the Panthers 12-5 in the 3rd and 11-2 in the 4th to pick up their eleventh win of the year against just one loss to Mexico. It will be a KHS vs. Macon doubleheader on championship night Saturday, January 15, girls at 4:00, boys at 6:00. Next, we get a preview of the championship games with a home doubleheader against Macon at Tiger Gym Tuesday at 6:10 on KIRX.
