KHS Tigers Knock Off Top Rated Monroe City

The Kirksville Tigers welcomed the number one rated team in Class 3 to Tiger Gym Saturday afternoon and survived a tough, physical Monroe City team 57-54. On a day when Kirksville struggled at the free throw line, Kirksville’s Drew Chrisman made two big ones late in the fourth quarter to go along with two huge baskets by Isaac Danielson in the final period. A half court tying three point attempt at the buzzer bounced of the glass, and the Tigers hang on for a huge win. Danielson led the way with 18 points for KHS including a personal 6 for 8 at the line. Keaton Anderson with 11 points including a clutch three in the fourth period, The Tigers went just 12 for 25 at the line for the game, but Drew Chrisman made the two biggest of the night. Joshua Talton scored 23 for Monroe City and went 14 out of 19 at the stripe. Talton fouled out with 5 seconds to play and was a non-factor on Monroe City’s final possession. A huge win for Tyler Martin and his Tigers as they get to 3-0 on the year. They will be part of Tuesday’s varsity double header at Clark County Tuesday night, coverage on KIRX and the page at 5:45.
