Late in the first half Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills, quarterback Josh Allen heaved a pass down the sideline. It soared over Tyrann Mathieu’s head, then right over that of safety Daniel Sorensen, landing in the hands of Buffalo tight end Dawson Knox for a 53-yard touchdown reception.
That play summarized their 38-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.
The Kansas City offense turned the ball over four times without forcing any Buffalo turnovers. The Chiefs gave up 315 yards through the air, 121 on the ground and 8.1 yards per play.
Allen threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns while running for another score, Micah Hyde returned an interception by Patrick Mahomes 26 yards for a TD. The Bills offense wasn’t the only thing lighting up the sky at Arrowhead, the game was halted for more than an hour by thunderstorms.
Mahomes finished with 272 yards passing and two touchdowns to go with two interceptions and a lost fumble — three of his team’s four turnovers in all. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire left with a knee injury early in the second half. Travis Kelce also left in the closing minutes after taking a blow to the head on an incomplete pass.
The Chiefs look to rebound as they head to Washington next Sunday.
