MLB SCOREBOARD…
SAN FRANCISCO 9 – San Diego 1… The Giants thrashed the Padres to win their eighth straight and become are the first team to clinch a playoff spot. Evan Longoria hit a three-run homer and singled home a run. Tommy La Stella, Mike Yastrzemski and Brandon Belt also went deep.

L.A. Dodgers 5 – ARIZONA 1… Justin Turner doubled home two runs and smacked his 25th homer in leading the Dodgers past the Diamondbacks. L.A. remains 2-1/2 games behind first-place San Francisco in the NL West.

St. Louis 7 – N.Y. METS 0… Adam Wainwright (16-70) pitched four-hit ball over six innings on his winning his fifth straight start and three relievers completed the shutout of the Mets. Paul Goldschmidt homered and drove in two runs for St. Louis, which is tied with San Diego, a half-game behind Cincinnati for the second NL wild card.

Miami 3 – WASHINGTON 0… Sandy Alcantara (9-13) allowed just one hit over eight innings and the Marlins blanked the Nationals. Jesus Sanchez singled home the only urn Miami needed in the top of the first inning. Alex Jackson added a two-run double in the ninth.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
N.Y. YANKEES 6 – Minnesota 5 (10 innings)… The Yankees rallied from five runs down in the sixth inning to upend the Twins. Gary Sánchez singled home Gleyber Torres with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Aaron Judge hit a tying three-run homer in the eighth.

TORONTO 8 – Tampa Bay 1… Alek Manoah (6-2) pitched one-hit ball over eight innings and the Blue Jays cruised past the Rays. Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., hit his major league-leading 45th home run. Bo Bichette also went deep. Breyvic Valera went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs. Teoscar Hernández went 5-for-5 and scored twice.

Houston 15 – TEXAS 1… Jose Siri homered twice, singled home two runs and knocked in five runs in his first career start and the Astros walloped the Rangers. Yordan Alvarez also homered twice for Houston. Alex Bregman contributed a two-run shot. Six pitchers held Texas at bay.

SEATTLE 5 – Boston 4… Mitch Hanigar went 4-for-4 with a three-run homer in leading the Mariners past the Red Sox. J.P. Crawford had three hits and scored a pair of runs.
