NATIONAL LEAGUE
Cincinnati 5 – MILWAUKEE 1… Sonny Gray (6-6) held the Brewers to three hits over six scoreless innings and the Reds cruised past the Brewers to salvage the series finale. Jonathan India hit a three-run homer. Nick Castellanos also went deep.
PITTSBURGH 11 – St. Louis 7… Gregory Polanco cracked a go-ahead two-run double during an eight-run bottom of the seventh inning as the Pirates rallied past the Cardinals. Bryan Reynolds and Wilmer Difo stroked two-run singles during the uprising and pinch-hitter Yoshi Tsutsugo homered with a runner aboard.
Arizona 8 – PHILADELPHIA 7… Carson Kelly and Nick Ahmed hit two-run homers and the Diamondbacks used a 15-hit attack to top the Phillies. Christian Walker went 4-or-4 and scored a run. Zac Gallen (2-7) allowed a pair of unearned runs on three hits over five innings.
San Francisco 3 – N.Y. METS 2… Pinch-hitter Darin Ruf single home Mike Yastrzemski with a tie-breaking run in the top of the eighth inning and the Giants made it stand in completing a sweep of the Mets. Kris Bryant smacked a two-run homer in the first.
MIAMI 7 – Washington 5… Jorge Alfaro belted a three-run homer during a four-run bottom of the first inning and the Marlins held off the Nationals. Miguel Rojas added a two-run shot in the second. Brian Anderson produced a pair of run-scoring singles.
L.A. Dodgers 4 – SAN DIEGO 0… Max Scherzer (12-4) pitched two-hit ball and struck out 10 over 7-2/3 innings to win his eighth straight decision and the Dodgers breezed past the Padres to finish off a series sweep. Austin Barnes homered with a runner aboard.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
BALTIMORE 13 – L.A. Angels 1… Pedro Severino unloaded a grand slam and singled home a pair of runs as the Orioles throttled the Angels. Ramon Arias went 3-for-4 and knocked in two runs. Keegan Akin (2-8) surrendered a run on three hits over seven innings.
Chi. White Sox 10 – TORONTO 7… Luis Robert hit a two-run home run and the White Sox got solo shots from José Abreu, César Hernández and Eloy Jiménez in slugging their way past the raptors. Carlos Rodón (10-5) allowed two runs and five hits over five innings in his return from the disabled list.
CLEVELAND 10 – Texas 6… Bradley Zimmer hit a two-run homer to cap a four-run bottom of the first inning and Andrés Giménez’s RBI double sparked a four-run fourth and gave the Indians the lead for good in their win over the Rangers. Myles Straw and Owen Miller hit solo homers.
BOSTON 12 – Minnesota 2… Bobby Dalbec homered twice and drove in seven runs to lead the Red Sox past the Twins. Raphael Devers singled home a run and drilled a two-run homer. Chris Sale (3-0) limited the Twins to two runs on two hits over 5-1/3 innings. He recorded an immaculate inning for the third time in his career, joining Sandy Koufax as the only pitchers ever to do so.
N.Y. Yankees 7 – OAKLAND 6… The Yankees recovered to down the Athletics after blowing an early 6-0 lead. Aaron Judge singled home Tyler Wade with a tie-breaking run in the top of the ninth inning. Giancarlo Stanton, Brett Gardner and Joey Gallo also went deep.
Kansas City 6 – SEATTLE 4… Salvador Perez connected for a grand slam during a five-run top of the sixth inning that pushed the Royals past the Mariners.
