Joseph Edwin Davis, age 74 of Durham, MO passed away peacefully August 1, 2021 in his home surrounded by family.
He was born on September 26, 1946 in LaBelle, MO. A son of Glover S. and Juanita “Peg” Marie Casto Davis. He was united in marriage to Darlene Ann Leona Turner on July 14, 1972. Together they shared four children, Dawn, Martin, Debbie and Michael Johnson.
After high school he joined the United States Army and served two years. After returning home he was a bartender at Isa and Isabelle’s in Quincy, IL for several years. During this time he was also helping his family at Davis Hardware in LaBelle, MO. Later he and his brother, Bob, operated the business together until it was sold.
He loved spending his free time fishing, bowling, playing cards, billiards, traveling with his wife on their motorcycle and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion, the Missouri Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. and the LaBelle Masonic Lodge #222 A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by three children, Dawn, Debbie, and Michael Johnson all of Durham, MO; one brother, Robert (Kaye) Davis of Columbia, MO; one brother-in-law, Michael (Bonnie) Turner of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Diana Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, Denise Johnson of Monroe City, MO, Amanda (Travis) Fleer of Lewistown, MO, Melissa Dedert of Alabama and Austin (Courtney) Cook of LaGrange, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Draven Johnson, Sebastian Cramer, Theron Fleer, Cayden Cook, Ashton Fleer, Aubree Fleer and Parker Cook and two nieces, Kathy Dempsey and Beverly Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Darlene Davis; a son, Martin Johnson, a son-in-law, Ricky Cook, a grandson, Marty Johnson and a great-grandson, Jackson Cook.
Joseph wishes were to be cremated with no services. Burial will be at a later date in LaBelle Cemetery at LaBelle, MO. Coder Funeral Chapel of LaBelle, MO is in charge of the arrangements.
