Rebecca Jane (Reynolds) Johnson

Rebecca Jane (Reynolds) Johnson, 67, of Newtown, Missouri passed away peacefully after battling cancer Monday, July 19, 2021, surrounded by family at her daughter’s house in Trenton, Missouri.

Jane was born on September 16, 1953, in Bethany, Missouri, to Albert and Lois (Collins) Reynolds. On September 25, 1971 she married Charles Johnson and he preceded her in death on June 14, 2020. Also preceding her in death were her parents, half-brothers; Terry Reynolds and Connie Reynolds, half-sisters; Peggy Peery and Judy Garcia, a grandchild; Bobby Johnson, two sister-in-laws; Bonnie Thomas and Ruby Newton, brother-in-laws; Clinton Newton, Johnny Wooderson, James Johnson and John Thomas.

Jane is survived by her five children: Paul Johnson (Tanya) of Gilman City, Julie (Eric) Veach of Milan, Missouri, Matthew Johnson (Keri) of Bethany, Missouri, April (Nick) Broemer of Elmer, Missouri and Becca Johnson of Trenton. Eight grandchildren Josh Johnson, Courtney Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Kendra Johnson, Jaden Popplewell (Jeremiah), Breana Veach, Ruger Johnson, Jace Estrada, two great grandchildren, Levi Elder and Waylon Elder, three sister-in-laws; Faye Mathews (Jerry) of St. Joseph, Leona Hollcroft (Doug) of Nixa, Missouri, Rose Anne Wooderson of Warsaw, Missouri, two brother-in-laws; George Johnson (Lillie) of Trenton, Missouri, and Lloyd Johnson (Josephine) of Gilman City, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Jane spent her early years in Bethany graduating from South Harrison High School in 1971. After graduation she and Charles farmed her family farm west of Bethany. During her time in Bethany she was a member of the First Baptist Church. Jane served a few years in the United States Army Reserves. She and Charlie were also foster parents while they lived in Bethany. In 1996 the family moved to Newtown, Missouri. She worked for Smithfield Farms for 16 years before retiring in April 2021. Jane had a love of gardening, taking pride in her crops and sharing with family and friends. On their small farm in Newtown she had a herd of sheep she took great pride in. She enjoyed bird watching and feeding her hummingbirds. She was an excellent pianist and she loved to play classical music. She also loved to cook for her large family and was well known for her great cooking. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, she took great pride in all their accomplishments.

Services for Jane will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Newtown Christian Church in Newtown, Missouri. A visitation is scheduled for one hour before the service, beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Christian Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
