N.Y. METS 4 – Milwaukee 3 (8 innings)… Jeff McNeil’s two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Mets over the Brewers in the opener of a doubleheader. Jose Peraza homered for New York.
Milwaukee 5 – N.Y. METS 0 (7 innings)… Four pitchers combined on a three-hitter as the Brewers blanked the Mets to claim a split of the twinbill. Manny Piña and Luis Urias hit two-run homers. Willy Adames also went deep.
Atlanta 14 – PITTSBURGH 3… Abraham Almonte singled home two runs and homered with a runner aboard to lead the Braves in their pounding of the Pirates. Ronald Acuña also went deep. Dansby Swanson had three hits and an RBI.
MIAMI 9 – L.A. Dodgers 6… Jesus Aguilar blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the Marlins past the Dodgers. Garrett Cooper homered twice. Jesus Sánchez also went deep.
CHI. CUBS 8 – Philadelphia 3… Seven different players drove in runs as the Cubs downed the Phillies. Patrick Wisdom capped the scoring with a two-run double.
ARIZONA 6 – Colorado 4… Eduardo Escobar’s three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning proved to be the difference in the Diamondbacks’ win over the Rockies. Nick Ahmed’s RBI single sparked a three-run second.
SAN FRANCISCO 5 – St. Louis 2… Alex Wood (8-1) held the Cardinals to a run on three hits over seven innings. Darin Ruf belted a two-run homer for the Giants.
Washington 15 – SAN DIEGO 5… The Nationals throttled the Padres with a 17-hit attack. Juan Castro connected for a three-run homer in the top of the first inning. Josh Harrison knocked in three runs with a single and a double.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
TAMPA BAY 8 – Cleveland 1 (7 innings)… Kevin Kiermaier lined a two-run double and blasted a three-run homer to lead the Rays past the Indians in the opener of a doubleheader. Brandon Lowe and Brett Phillips also homered.
TAMPA BAY 4 – Cleveland 0 (7 innings)… Five pitchers combined on a seven-inning no-hitter and the Rays completed a sweep of the twinbill. Taylor Walls produced a pair of run-scoring singles for Tampa Bay and Yandy Diaz singled home two more.
Chi. White Sox 6 – MINNESOTA 1… Lance Lynn (9-3) held the Twins to a run on four hits over six innings. Leury Garcia homered with a runner aboard and tripled home a run. Tim Anderson went 4-for-4 with an RBI double.
Detroit 5 – TEXAS 3… Miguel Cabrera singled home a go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning and Tigers topped the Rangers. Jeimer Candelario homered for Detroit.
L.A. ANGELS 5 – Boston 4… Jared Walsh homered twice and drove in three runs to help power the Angels past the Red Sox. Shohei Ohtani’s 32nd homer was a solo shot.
Toronto 10 – BALTIMORE 2… Bo Bichette singled home a run and hit a two-run homer in the Blue Jays’ trashing of the Orioles. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles.
HOUSTON 4 – Oakland 3… Kyle Tucker smacked a tie-breaking solo homer in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Astros hung on to edge the Athletics. Jose Altuve cracked a three-run homer in the third.
N.Y. Yankees 5 – SEATTLE 4… The Yankees did all their scoring in their first two at-bats and held off the Mariners. Aaron Judge slugged a two-run homer. Gleyber Torres lined a two-run single.
INTERLEAGUE
Cincinnati 5 – KANSAS CITY 2… Reds starter Sonny Gray (2-4) allowed just two runs on seven hits over seven innings. Jonathan India went 3-for-4 with a two-run double.
