Sandra Kay Lyons

Sandra Kay Lyons, 62 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

Sandra was born August 18, 1958 in Kirksville, Missouri to Harvey and Clara Belle (Eastman) Reed. She grew up in Kirksville.

She married Dewey Potter on September 30, 1976 and he preceded her in death on January 8, 1987. To his union three children were born. On October 15, 1993 she married Gerald Lyons (aka Poppy). To this union she has one stepson.

Sandra worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory until they closed. She went to Grim Smith Hospital as a maid for many years and then to the bakery at Wal-Mart until her health got bad and she retired.

She loved to read romance novels. She enjoyed going to the casino and was an avid Kid Rock fan. She loved time with the grandkids and baking sugar cookies for Christmas.

Sandra is survived by her husband Gerald Lyons; sons, Jackie Potter and friend Jennifer, and Jamie Potter and friend Jessica; daughters, Janie Shultz and husband Donald, Tiffany Potter and Shanon Potter; stepson, Jeremy Lyons and friend Stephanie all of Kirksville; brothers, Harvey Reed, Jerry Reed and wife Annie, Jim Reed and wife Ginger, Danny Reed and wife Nancy all of Kirksville; sisters, Judy Ballinger and husband Ira, Sally Weekly all of Kirksville and Donna Magruder and husband Lonnie of Gibbs, MO; grandchildren, Anthony Sanders, Wyatt & Kaleb Pritchet, Cody, Chauncey, Cameron, Keaton & Aubree Potter, Eaton & Regan Potter; step grandchildren, Kaitlin, Cierra & Sarah Lyons, Daiman, Isaih, Autumn & Gracie; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister & brother-in-law, Jessie & Frank McKoy; sister & brother-in-law, Janet & Larry Weekley; brother-in-law, Bill Weekley; brother, Ronald Reed; two granddaughters, Leticia Potter & Kaylynn Potter; two nephews, Lonnie Magruder & Jeremy Reed; and her mother & father-in-law, Audrea & Garnett Lyons.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday with funeral service at 2:30 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northeast Missouri or Mulberry Cemetery Association.
