CINCINNATI 5 – Atlanta 3… Nick Castellanos homered with a runner aboard and knocked in four runs to lead the Reds past the Braves. Tony Santillan (1-1) limited Atlanta to a run on three hits over six innings.
Washington 7 – MIAMI 3… Kyle Schwarber homered in his first two at-bats and raised his season total to 21 in leading the Nationals past the Marlins. Juan Soto stroked a pair of run-scoring doubles.
Pittsburgh 8 – ST. LOUIS 2… Bryan Reynolds went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer
and RBI single as the Pirates downed the Cardinals. Adam Frazier and Phillip Evans smacked solo homers.
Chi. Cubs 4 – L.A. DODGERS 0… Starter Zach Davies combined with relievers Ryan Tepera, Andrew Chafin and Craig Kimbrel to no-hit the Dodgers. Davies (5-4) went the first six innings. Willson Contreras provided all the offense the Cubs needed with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning. Javier Báez also went deep.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
N.Y. YANKEES 8 – Kansas City 1… Gary Sanchez belted a three-run homer and the Yankees got solo shots from Aaron Judge and Luke Voit in cruising past the Royals. Jameson Taillon (2-4) allowed a run on five hits over 6-1/3 innings.
Oakland 5 – TEXAS 1… Ramon Laureano doubled home a run and came around to score during a three-run top of the first inning and the Athletics cruised past the Rangers. Chris Bassitt (8-2) allowed just a run on five hits over seven innings.
TORONTO 9 – Baltimore 0… Lourdes Gurriel Jr. unloaded a grand slam during a six-run bottom of the first inning and the Blue Jays never looked back in their romp over the Orioles. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also went deep. Anthony Kay (1-2) pitched five-hit ball over five innings and got help from four relievers in the shutout.
TAMPA BAY 1 – Boston 0… Manuel Margot raced home with the game’s only run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning. Tampa Bay was held hitless until Kevin Kiermaier drilled a one-out double in the eighth.
Houston 12 – DETROIT 3… The Astros piled up 18 hits in their thrashing of the Tigers. Carlos Correa had three hits and drove in three runs. Yordan Alvarez capped the scoring with a grand slam. Luis Garcia (6-4) surrendered two runs on seven hits over six innings.
Cleveland 4 – MINNESOTA 1… The Indians pulled past the Twins after spotting them a first-inning run. Eddie Rosario came through with a tie-breaking two-run single in the top of the eighth.
