NATIONAL LEAGUE
N.Y. METS 5 – Chi. Cubs 2… Domonic Smith homered and Kevin Pillar doubled home two runs as the Mets topped the Cubs. David Peterson (2-5) pitched one-hit ball over six scoreless innings.
WASHINGTON 3 – Pittsburgh 2… Kyle Schwarber singled home a tying run in the bottom of the third inning and smacked a go-ahead solo homer in the seventh to push the Nationals past the Pirates.
Cincinnati 10 – MILWAUKEE 2… The Reds pounded the Brewers for their fourth straight win. Joey Votto had a couple of hits, including a two-run homer, and three RBIs. Aristides Aquino also homered with a runner aboard. Vladimir Gutierrez (3-1) allowed two runs on four hits over six innings.
ST. LOUIS 4 – Miami 2… Tyler O’Neill delivered a tie-breaking run-scoring double in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Cardinals got past the Marlins. Paul Goldschmidt and Edmundo Sosa both had a couple of hits and an RBI.
COLORADO 3 – San Diego 2… Austin Gomber (6-5) limited the Padres to three hits over eight scoreless innings and the Rockies held on for the win. C.J. Cron homered to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning.
SAN FRANCISCO 5 – Arizona 2… Brendan Crawford hit a two-run homer and lifted a sacrifice fly as the Giants dealt the Diamondbacks their 20th straight road loss. Curt Casali had three of San Francisco’s 14 hits.
L.A. DODGERS 3 – Philadelphia 1… Will Smith homered with a runner aboard in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Dodgers the lead for good in their win over the Phillies. Chris Taylor homered to lead off the fifth.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
CLEVELAND 4 – Baltimore 3… Jose Ramirez singled home a run and came around to score during a three-run bottom of the first inning and then doubled home the decisive run in the sixth to lead the Indians past the Orioles.
BOSTON 2 – Toronto 1… Rafael Devers singled home Alex Verdugo with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Red Sox edged the Blue Jays. Verdugo doubled home the game’s first run in the third.
Detroit 10 – KANSAS CITY 3… The Tigers breezed past the Royals to snap a three-game skid despite losing staring pitcher Matthew Boyd and reliever Alex Lange to injuries. Niko Goodrum singled home two runs and homered. Wili Castro and Robbie Grossman also went deep.
Tampa Bay 5 – CHI. WHITE SOX 2… Austin Meadows homered with a runner aboard in the top of the first inning and the Rays got solo shots from Brandon Lowe and Randy Arozarena in downing the White Sox for their fourth straight win.
OAKLAND 8 – L.A. Angels 5… Sean Murphy connected for a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning and the Athletics added five more runs in the third to put away the Angels. Mitch Moreland stroked a two-run single. Sean Manaea (6-2) allowed a run on nine hits over 5-2/3 innings.
SEATTLE 4 – Minnesota 3… Jake Bauers blasted a tie-breaking homer in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Mariners made it stand in topping the Twins. Ty France sliced a run-scoring double in the fifth and scored the tying run on Dylan Moore’s triple.
