NATIONAL LEAGUE
Milwaukee 9 – CINCINNATI 4… Willy Adames stroked a two-run single to cap a three-run top of the first inning and the Brewers cruised past the Reds. Christian Yelich singled home a run and homered. Kolten Wong had three hits, including a two-run triple.
MIAMI 5 – N.Y. Mets 1… Rookie Cody Poteet (2-0) pitched three-hit ball over seven innings and the Marlins eased past the Mets. Poteet opened the scoring with an RBI infield single as Miami scored all five runs in the bottom of the second inning.
ATLANTA 7 – Pittsburgh 1… Austin Riley homered twice and knocked in five runs to lead the Braves past the Pirates. Dansby Swanson added a two-run blast. Max Fried (2-2) allowed a run on four hits over seven innings.
COLORADO 4 – Arizona 3… Trevor Story led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a walkoff homer and the Rockies dealt the Diamondbacks their eighth straight loss. Story’s run-scoring single in the first opened the scoring.
L.A. Dodgers 11 – SAN FRANCISCO 5… The Dodgers slugged their way past the Giants to complete a weekend sweep of their rivals. Gavin Lux unloaded a grand slam. Julio Urías (7-1) gave up two runs on three hits and struck out 10 over six innings. He also helped himself at the plate with a two-run double and RBI infield single.
Chi. Cubs 2 – ST. LOUIS 1 (10 innings)… Javier Báez hit a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning to break a scoreless tie and the Cubs hung on to outlast the Cardinals.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
N.Y. YANKEES 5 – Chi. White Sox 4… Aaron Judge drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to force home Clint Frazier with the winning run and the Yankees ran their winning streak to six games. Greyber Torres went 3-for-4 with a two-run single for New York.
Tampa Bay 6 – TORONTO 4… The Rays rallied to score four runs in the top of the ninth inning to upend the Blue Jays and win their 10th in a row. Austin Meadows, Manuel Margot and Mike Brosseau drew consecutive bases-loaded walks to force home runs after Brett Phillips sparked the uprising with an RBI single. Francisco Mejia homered to lead off the fifth.
Minnesota 8 – CLEVELAND 5 (10 innings)… Kyle Garlick’s three-run homer in the top of the 10th inning sent the Twins past the Indians. Max Kepler slugged a three-run homer during a five-run fourth.
KANSAS CITY 3 – Detroit 2… Carlos Santana homered with a runner aboard in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Royals over the Tigers. Detroit scored both its runs in the first to take an early lead.
TEXAS 3 – Houston 2 (10 innings)… Adolis Garcia’s infield single in the bottom of the 10th inning scored automatic runner Nick Solak with the winning run and gave the Rangers a series sweep of the Astros. Solak doubled home a run in the seventh.
L.A. ANGELS 6 – Oakland 5… The Angels came from four runs down in the fourth inning to top the Athletics. Justin Upton lifted a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Taylor Ward with the decisive run. Jared Walsh homered and knocked in two runs for L.A.
INTERLEAGUE
WASHINGTON 6 – Baltimore 5… The Nationals fought their way past the Orioles after spotting them an early three-run lead and finished off a three-game sweep. Kyle Schwarber hit a two-run homer during a four-run bottom of the first inning. The loss was Baltimore’s sixth in a row.
PHILADELPHIA 6 – Boston 2… Brad Miller homered to cap a four-run bottom of the first inning and the Phillies breezed past the Red Sox to snap their four-game skid. Zack Wheeler (4-2) limited Boston to a run on three hits over 7-1/3 innings and fanned 12.
SAN DIEGO 9 – Seattle 2… Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a pair of homers, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs as the Padres downed the Mariners and completed a sweep of their nine-game home stand. Yu Darvish (5-1) surrendered a run on seven hits over seven innings.
