Timmy Jay Maize

Timmy Jay Maize, 61, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021.

The son of Jim Ray Maize and Helen Epperson, he was born August 12, 1959 in Kirksville, Missouri. On June 6, 1976, Tim was united in marriage to Debbie Lloyd.

Tim is survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Chad Jay Maize of Kirksville; mother, Helen Epperson of Ottumwa, Iowa; mother-in-law, Hallene Lloyd of Kirksville; brother and sister-in-laws, Steve Lloyd, Lavern and Vickie Blackorby, David and Tina Lawson, David and Tracie Lloyd; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Sherry and Rick Munden; cousins, Tara Miller, Jason Munden, Eugene Thudium, Jamie Thudium, and Belinda Tooley Lambright.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, Jim Maize; brother, Jim Ray Maize; stepfather, Charles Epperson; two stepbrothers, Michael and Charlie Epperson; grandparents, Harley and Helen Maize, and Russell and Sara Thudium; father-in-law, Darrell Lloyd; sister-in-law Sherry Lloyd; aunt, Shurlene Tooley; uncle, Cecil Thudium; and cousins, Charlotte VanSickel and Terry Tooley.

Tim was a Kirksville High School class member of 1977. He began working for his father’s business, Maize Painting, and was then employed by Florsheim Shoe Factory. Tim was last employed at Truman State University for over 29 years until retiring in December of 2020.

Tim enjoyed listening to music, and watching the wild life, while walking at Thousand Hills State Park. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, and playing Xbox. Tim was a member of the Church of Nazarene and enjoyed attending Men’s Bible Study at the church. Tim’s love for Jesus was reflected in the time he spent serving the church as well as others in the community. Family and friends were extremely important to him and he always found special ways to show his love for them.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Park View Memorial Gardens (Davis-Playle Hudson Rimer). The service is open to family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of Nazarene and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
