MLB SCOREBOARD…
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Cincinnati 5 – PITTSBURGH 1 (10 innings)… Jesse Winker singled home a run and Eugenio Suarez added a bases-clearing double as the Reds scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning to put away the Pirates. Mike Moustakas opened the scoring with a lead-off homer in the second inning.

San Diego 5 – COLORADO 3 (7 innings)… Victor Caratini unloaded a grand slam in the top of the sixth inning to power the Padres past the Rockies in the opener o a doubleheader.

COLORADO 3 – San Diego 2 (8 innings)… Josh Fuentes singled home Charlie Blackmon with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Rockies a split of the twinbill.

Philadelphia 5 – WASHINGTON 2 (10 innings)… Rhys Hoskins’ run-scoring single sparked a three-run top of the 10th inning that carried the Phillies past the Nationals. Odubel Herrera tied the game with a ninth-inning solo homer.

MILWAUKEE 4 – St. Louis 1… Travis Shaw doubled home a run and Adolis Garcia followed with a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Brewers got past the Cardinals. Shaw’s sacrifice fly in the sixth put Milwaukee on the board.

Miami 3 – ARIZONA 2… The Marlins did all their scoring in their first two at-bats and held off the Diamondbacks. Jesus Aguilar homered for the third straight game with a runner aboard in the top of the first inning and Sandy Léon went deep to lead off the second. Cody Poteet (1-0) allowed two runs on four hits over five innings to win his major league debut.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
DETROIT 4 – Kansas City 2… The Tigers cruised past the Royals after spotting then am early two-run lead. Jeimer Candelario doubled home a go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored in Miguel Cabrera’s second RBI single.

N.Y. Yankees 1 – TAMPA BAY 0… Aaron Hicks’ sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning scored Aaron Judge with the game’s only run. Yankees starter Gerrit Cole (5-1) pitched four-hit ball over eight innings and struck out 12 before Aroldis Chapman completed the shutout.

Oakland 4 – BOSTON 1… James Kaprielian (1-0) limited the Red Sox to a run on four hits over five innings to win his first major league start. Matt Olson homered to lead off the top of the sixth inning for the Athletics.

HOUSTON 9 – L.A. Angels 1… The Astros got home runs from Jose Altuve, Yuli Gurriel, Kyle Tucker, Yordan Alvarez and Chas McCormick in crushing the Angels.

CHI. WHITE SOX 13 – Minnesota 8… The White Sox slugged their way past the Twins for their fifth straight win. Yasmani Grandal and rookie Andrew Vaughn homered. Jose Abreu had a couple of hits and drove in a pair of runs.

INTERLEAGUE
N.Y. METS 7 – Baltimore 1… Domonic Smith went 3-for-4 and knocked in two runs as the ripped the Orioles. Kevin Pillar and Jose Peraza added two RBIs apiece. Taijuan Walker (3-1) surrendered a run on four hits over seven innings.

CLEVELAND 2 – Chi Cubs 1 (10 innings)… Amed Rosario doubled home a tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning and came through with a bases-loaded single in the 10th to lift the Indians over the Cubs.

Toronto 4 – ATLANTA 1… Teoscar Hernández homered twice and knocked in three runs to lead the Blue Jays past the Braves. Hyun Jin Ryu (3-2) gave up a run on five hits over seven innings.

L.A. DODGERS 7 – Seattle 1… Julio Urías (5-1) held the Mariners to a run on two hits over seven innings and got plenty of support in the Dodgers’ win. Max Muncy hit a two-run homer. Matt Beaty doubled home two runs and singled home another.
