ST. LOUIS 4 – Philadelphia 3 (10 innings)… Tyler O’Neal raced home with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning on a wild pitch. Matt Carpenter belted a three-run homer in the fifth.
Chi. Cubs 9 – ATLANTA 3… The Cubs pounded out 16 hits in their thrashing of the Braves. Matt Duffy and Jason Heyward drove in two runs apiece. Jake Marisnick homered to lead off the top of the seventh inning.
MILWAUKEE 2 – L.A. Dodgers 1… Travis Shaw hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Brewers held on to edge the Dodgers. Eric Lauer (1-0) pitched four-hit ball over five innings.
ARIZONA 5 – Colorado 3… Eduardo Escobar tripled home a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the seventh inning and scored on David Peralta’s single to push the Diamondbacks past the Rockies. Josh Rojas homered to lead off the fourth.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
BALTIMORE 4 – N.Y. Yankees 3 (10 innings)… Cedric Mullins’ sacrifice fly scored Ramon Urias with the winning run and the Orioles claimed a split of the four-game series. Trey Mancini singled home a run and homered.
Oakland 3 – TAMPA BAY 2… Matt Chapman homered in the top of the fourth inning and doubled home Jed Lowrie with the go-ahead run in the ninth to lead the Athletics past the Rays.
Seattle 1 – HOUSTON 0… Yusei Kikuchi (1-1) limited the Astros to one hit over seven innings and two Mariners relievers completed the shutout. Taylor Trammell’s homer to lead off the top of the third inning accounted for the game’s only run.
TEXAS 4 – Boston 1… Rangers starter Kyle Gibson (3-0) held the Red Sox to a run on three hits over six innings. Jose Trevino homered with a runner aboard and Isiah Kiner-Falefa added a solo shot.
CHI. WHITE SOX 3 – Detroit 1 (7 innings)… Leury Garcia stroked a two-run single as the White Sox scored all three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to get past the Tigers in the first game of a doubleheader. Carlos Rodón allowed a run on two hits and struck out 12 over six innings.
CHI. WHITE SOX 11 – Detroit 0 (7 innings)… Dylan Cease (1-0) shut out the Tigers on three hits and the White Sox completed a sweep of the twinbill. Yoan Moncada blasted a three-run homer and Fermin Mercedes homered with the bases empty to cap a seven-run bottom of the fifth inning. Leury Garcia drove in three runs with a pair of singles.
