NATIONAL LEAGUE
ATLANTA 8 – Chi. Cubs 7… The Braves slugged their way past the Cubs after blowing an early 4-0 lead. Freddy Freeman belted a tie-breaking three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Miami 8 – MILWAUKEE 0… Starter Trevor Rogers (3-1) scattered six hits over six innings and two relievers completed the blanking of the Brewers. Corey Dickerson knocked in three runs with a homer, single and double.
Philadelphia 2 – ST. LOUIS 1… Zack Wheeler (2-2) took a one-hit shutout into the ninth inning and the Phillies held on to edge the Cardinals. Rhys Hoskins homered twice for Philadelphia.
SAN FRANCISCO 12 – Colorado 0… The Giants scored nine runs in the first two innings and coasted past the Rockies. Anthony DeSclafani (2-0) tossed a three-hit shutout. Buster Posey went 4-or-5 with a two-run homer and three RBIs. Evan Longoria also drove in three runs.
Cincinnati 5 – L.A. DODGERS 3 (10 innings)… Jesse Winker’s two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning gave the Reds their first win in eight games. Nick Castellanos had a couple of hits, including an RBI single.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Kansas City 3 – DETROIT 2… Whit Merrifield lifted a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning and the Royals hung on to top the Tigers. Carlos Santana opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the third.
CLEVELAND 5 – Minnesota 3 (10 innings)… Jordan Luplow’s two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Indians over the Twins. Jose Ramirez tied the game with an eighth-inning solo homer.
BALTIMORE 4 – N.Y. Yankees 2… Cedric Mullins went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers and a double to push the Orioles past the Yankees. Starter Matt Harvey (2-1) allowed just a run on three hits over six innings.
Oakland 2 – TAMPA BAY 1… Sean Murphy’s two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning provided all the offense the Athletics needed in their win over the Rays. Sean Manaea (3-1) surrendered a run on four hits over the first four innings.
L.A. Angels 9 – TEXAS 4… Shohei Ohtani (1-0) overcame a rough start to deliver five innings on the mound and delivered a two-run double at the plate in leading the Angels past the Rangers. Justin Upton and Albert Pujols hit back-to-back homers to lead off the third. Jose Iglesias also went deep.
HOUSTON 5 – Seattle 2… Jose Altuve had three hits, including a two-run single, for the Astros. Starter Jose Urquidy (2-2) gave up two runs on five hits over six innings.
