NATIONAL LEAGUE
N.Y. METS 4 – Washington 0… Taijuan Walker (1-1) held the Nationals to three hits over seven innings and got help from two relievers in the shutout. J.D. Davis homered with a runner aboard in the bottom of the first inning and Pete Alonso homered to lead off the fifth for the Mets.
Arizona 5 – ATLANTA 0… Zac Gallen (1-0) limited the Braves to one hit in the seven-inning doubleheader opener. Stephen Vogt and Kole Calhoun homered for the Diamondbacks.
Arizona 7 – ATLANTA 0… Madison Bumgarner (2-2) no-hit the Braves over seven innings and the Diamondbacks completed a sweep of the twinbill. Pavin Smith homered to lead of the game and David Peralta added a two-run blast in the first. Eduardo Escobar led off the third with a homer.
ST. LOUIS 5 – Cincinnati 2… Tyler O’Neal smacked a pair of solo homers for the Cardinals. Jack Flaherty (4-0) allowed a run on three hits over seven innings.
Milwaukee 6 – CHI. CUBS 0… Brandon Woodruff (2-0) pitched two-hit ball over six innings and three relievers completed the shutout. Luis Urias stroked a two-run single. Travis Shaw drove in two runs with a bases-loaded walk and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded.
COLORADO 12 – Philadelphia 2… Trevor Story unloaded a grand slam to cap a seven-run fourth inning. C.J. Cron homered with a runner aboard.
SAN FRANCISCO 4 – Miami 3… Logan Webb (1-1) allowed just three hits over seven shutout innings and helped himself at the plate with a two-run triple. Mauricio Dubon had a couple of hits and an RBI.
San Diego 8 – L.A. DODGERS 7 (11 innings)… The Padres erased a 7-1 seventh-inning deficit in outlasting the Dodgers. Eric Hosmer’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning scored Fernando Tatis Jr. With the decisive run. Tatis also scored the tying run in the ninth on Manny Machado’s single and homered.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
BALTIMORE 8 – Oakland 1… Austin Hays homered twice and drove in three runs as the Orioles ended the Athletics’ 13-game winning streak. Maikel Franco also went deep. John Means (2-0) gave up a run on two hits over 6-1/3 innings.
Kansas City 4 – DETROIT 0… The Royals blanked the Tigers for their fourth straight win. Danny Duffy (3-1) pitched four-hit ball over five innings and three relievers did the rest. Hunter Dozier homered and Carlos Santana singled home two runs.
CLEVELAND 7 – N.Y. Yankees 3… Franmil Reyes went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a triple as the Indians salvaged the finale of the four-game series.
BOSTON 5 – Seattle 3… The Red Sox pushed across four runs in the bottom of the first inning and hung on to down the Mariners. Christian Vásquez got things going with an RBI single.
Toronto 1 – TAMPA BAY 0… Starter Hyun Jin Ryun left in the fourth inning with a minor strain, five relievers finished off the Blue Jays’ shutout of the Rays. Santiago Espinal single home Marcus Semien with the game’s only run in the top of the fifth inning.
L.A. Angels 4 – HOUSTON 2… Shohei Ohtani connected for a tie-breaking solo homer in the top of the eighth inning. David Fletcher’s infield single brought in two fifth-inning runs.
CHI. WHITE SOX 8 – Texas 4… Michael Kopech (2-0) surrendered a run on four hits and struck out 10 in five innings. Jose Abreu drilled a two-run homer in the bottom of the first and lifted a sacrifice fly in the second.
INTERLEAGUE
Pittsburgh 6 – MINNESOTA 2… Gregory Polanco went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and the Pirates cruised past the Twins. Bryan Reynolds slugged a pair of run-scoring doubles.
