NATIONAL LEAGUE
Arizona 5 – CINCINNATI 4… The Diamondbacks held off the Reds in the resumption of a game suspended in the eighth inning on Tuesday due to snow and cold.
Arizona 8 – CINCINNATI 5 (10 innings)… Josh VanMeter came through with a game-tying pinch-hit three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning and the Diamondbacks scored five times in the 10th to put away the Reds.
PHILADELPHIA 6 – San Francisco 5… Andrew Knapp singled home Bryce Harper in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Phillies over the Giants. Harper’s solo homer tied the game in the seventh. Mickey Moniak opened the scoring with a three-run blast in the second.
WASHINGTON 1 – St. Louis 0… Max Scherzer (1-1) limited the Cardinals to four hits over six innings in outdueling counterpart Carlos Martinez (0-4). Alex Avila’s double in the bottom of the second inning scored Josh Bell with the game’s only run.
Milwaukee 4 – SAN DIEGO 2… Omar Narvaez homered with a runner aboard and Jace Peterson followed with a solo shot in the top of the sixth inning as the Brewers completed a three-game sweep.
CHI. CUBS 16 – N.Y. Mets 4… Javier Baez’ grand slam highlighted the Cubs’ throttling of the Mets. David Bote had a couple of hits and four RBIs. Matt Duffy went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
OAKLAND 13 – Minnesota 12 (10 innings)… The Athletics won a wild one to extend their winning streak to 11 games. They scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the 10th without the benefit of a hit. Matt Chapman lifted a game-tying sacrifice fly in the ninth. Matt Olson homered twice and knocked in three runs.
Texas 7 – L.A. ANGELS 4… Adolis Garcia blasted a go-ahead three-run homer and Nate Lowe added a solo shot in the top of the eighth inning to rally the Rangers past the Angels.
Toronto 6 – BOSTON 3… The Blue Jays jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings and scored a pair of insurance runs in the ninth to put away the Red Sox. Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Randal Grichuk each had two hits and an RBI.
KANSAS CITY 9 – Tampa Bay 8… The Royals scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning to upend the Rays. Salvador Perez singled home Nicky Lopez with the winning run. Pinch-hitter Hanser Alberto legged out a two-run triple and Carlos Santana homered with a runner aboard in the seventh.
Chi. White Sox – CLEVELAND (ppd)… Snowfall and freezing temperatures forced postponement of last night’s White Sox-Indians game. It will be made up on May 31.
INTERLEAGUE
MIAMI 3 – Baltimore 0… Trevor Rogers (2-1) pitched four-hit ball over seven innings and got help from two relievers in the shutout of the Orioles. Jesus Aguilar stroked a two-run double and scored on Adam Duvall’s single in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Pittsburgh 3 – DETROIT 2… Bryan Reynolds and Erik González produced run scoring singles as the Pirate scored all three runs in the top of the fourth inning and held off the Tigers in the doubleheader opener. Tyler Anderson (2-2) allowed two runs on three hits over five innings.
DETROIT 5 – Pittsburgh 2… Jonathan Schoop’s leadoff homer sparked a three-run bottom of the fifth inning and the Tigers claimed a split of the twinbill. Niko Goodrum homered to lead of the third.
COLORADO 6 – Houston 3… Austin Gomber (1-2) surrendered two run on two hits over six innings and the Rockies dealt the Astros their ninth loss in 10 games. Trevor Story doubled home two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Yonathan Daza homered to lead of the second. Dom Nuñez drove in two runs with a single and a double.
Atlanta 4 – N.Y. YANKEES 1… Starter Ian Anderson (1-1) blanked the Yankees on four his over 6-2/3 innings and the Braves cruised to the win. Austin Riley homered for Atlanta.
