NATIONAL LEAGUE
San Francisco 2 – PHILADELPHIA 0… Kevin Gausman (1-0) scattered six hits over six innings and three relievers completed the shutout of the Phillies. Brandon Belt’s two-run homer in the top of the third inning accounted for the game’s only offense.

St. Louis 12 – WASHINGTON 5… Paul DeJong smacked a solo homer and unloaded a grand slam to lead the Cardinals in their pounding of the Nationals. Tommy Edman, Paul Goldschmidt and Justin Williams also went deep.

Milwaukee 3 – SAN DIEGO 1… The Brewers got solo homers from Luis Urias, Billy McKinney and pinch-hitter Tyrone Taylor in their win over the Padres. Brandon Woodruff (1-0) allowed just a run on one hit over six innings.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
BOSTON 11 – Chi. White Sox 4… Kiké Hernandez’ lead-off homer sparked a six-run bottom of the first inning and the Red Sox coasted past the White Sox. Alex Verdugo and J.D. Martinez also hit solo homers.

Tampa Bay 4 – KANSAS CITY 1… Starter Josh Fleming (1-1) pitched two-hit ball over 5-1/3 innings and the Rays scored three unearned runs to down the Royals. Kevin Kiermaier had two hits and drove in two runs.

Texas 6 – L.A. ANGELS 4… The Rangers used a five-run top of the sixth inning to put away the Angels. Adolis Garcia opened the scoring with a homer to lead off the third.

OAKLAND – Minnesota (ppd)… Last night’s Twins-Athletics game in Oakland was postponed to allow for continued testing and contact tracing involving members of the Minnesota organization. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

INTERLEAGUE
SEATTLE 4 – L.A. Dodgers 3… Jose Marmolejos staked the Mariners to an early lead with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and they went on to hold off the Dodgers. Taylor Trammell homered and doubled home a run.
