NATIONAL LEAGUE
N.Y. METS 4 – Philadelphia 3… Pete Alonso and Jonathan Villar produced run-scoring singles in the bottom of the eighth inning to send the Mets past the Phillies in the opener of a doubleheader. Dominic Smith homered with a runner aboard in the first.
N.Y. METS 4 – Philadelphia 0… Marcus Stroman (2-0) pitched four-hit ball over six innings and the Mets blanked the Phillies to complete a sweep of the twinbill. Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-4 and knocked in three runs.
PITTSBURGH 8 – San Diego 4… Jacob Stallings went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs as the Pirates doubled up on the Padres. Erik Gonzalez also had three hits, including an RBI double and run-scoring single.
Miami 14 – ATLANTA 8… Adam Duvall homered twice and knocked in seven runs as the Marlins outslugged the Braves. Brian Anderson had three hits, including a homer, and three RBIs.
Chi. Cubs 3 – MILWAUKEE 2… Willson Contreras’ two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning powered the Cubs past the Brewers. Contreras also scored the tying run in the second on Kris Bryant’s sacrifice fly.
ST. LOUIS 14 – Washington 3… The Cardinals blew the game open with a nine-run bottom of the fifth inning. Matt Carpenter sparked the big inning with a two-run homer and added a sacrifice fly. Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado homered for St. Louis.
SAN FRANCISCO 7 – Cincinnati 6… Wilmer Flores’ tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning proved to be the difference in the Giants’ win over the Reds. Mike Yastrzemski and Brandon Crawford slugged two-run homers in the first. Evan Longoria also circled the bases.
L.A. DODGERS 7 – Colorado 0… Dodger starter Trevor Bauer (2-0) pitched seven innings of one-hit ball and the Dodgers breezed past the Rockies. Corey Seager, Chris Taylor, Mookie Betts and Max Muncy homered for L.A.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Seattle 4 – BALTIMORE 3 (8 innings)… Kyle Seager doubled home a go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning and the Mariners took the doubleheader opener. Ty France and Tom Murphy homered for Seattle.
BALTIMORE 7 – Seattle 6… Ramon Urias singled home Rio Ruiz with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Orioles a split of the twinbill. Maikel Franco lined a bases-clearing double.
Boston 4 – MINNESOTA 2… Hunter Renfroe and Rafael Devers homered for the Red Sox. Bobby Dalbec stroked a pair of RBI doubles.
TORONTO 7 – N.Y. Yankees 3… Starter Hyun Jin Ryu (2-0) tossed 6-2/3 scoreless innings and the Blue Jays topped the Yankees. Marcus Semien and Rowdy Tellez hit solo homers for Toronto.
Texas 8 – TAMPA BAY 3… Nick Solak and Charlie Culberson drove in three runs apiece to lead the Rangers past the Rays. Culberson drilled a two-run homer. Texas starter Kyle Gibson (2-0) overcame a rough start to turn in a strong seven-inning effort.
KANSAS CITY 3 – L.A. Angels 2… Starter Danny Duffy (2-0) limited the Angels to a run on eight hits over six innings. Carlos Santana drove in a pair of runs.
Cleveland 2 – CHI. WHITE SOX 0 (10 innings)… Roberto Perez broke a scoreless tie with an RBI infield single in the top of the 10th inning and scored on Eddie Rosario’s double as the Indians outlasted the White Sox.
Detroit 8 – HOUSTON 2… Wilson Ramos belted two home runs and knocked in three runs to lead the Tigers past the Astros. Renato Nuñez, Nomar Mazara and Akil Baddo also went deep.
INTERLEAGUE
Oakland 7 – ARIZONA 5… The Athletics rallied from five runs down to top the Diamondbacks. Jed Lowrie slugged a game-tying three run homer in the top of the seventh inning and Brown added a go-ahead solo blast in the eighth. Stephen Piscotty also went deep.
